In or out tonight.

He’ll stay - not that I want him to!

Nat6999 · 06/06/2022 20:55

He will have less than 150 wanting him to go

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 06/06/2022 20:56

We'll be stuck with him 😬

Happylittlethoughts · 06/06/2022 20:56

God knows, it's inconceivable but he'll get the support. I detest him..

CandyLeBonBon · 06/06/2022 20:57

I think he's like fucking Teflon. I'd love to see him go though.

Caminante · 06/06/2022 20:57

I cannot imagine that he will go now. It just couldn't be that easy.

AnnaKar · 06/06/2022 20:58

I think he’ll stay…for now.

He'll stay. To be fair if Jeremy Hunt wants something it's probably not great for us so perhaps that's the best outcome.

CormoranStrike · 06/06/2022 20:59

Death by a thousand cuts

he won’t go tonight (though he should) but the slow decline takes another steep turn downwards today

meow1989 · 06/06/2022 21:00

He will stay I think(though hoping he will go). And he will spin it with his big goofy grin about how he won and he will twist the results to.suit him whilst being immune for a year

user1471453601 · 06/06/2022 21:01

I think he will stay, unfortunately. I also think he will limp on, wounded.

I think he'll be gone in less than a year.

I know the 1922 committee rules state there cannot be a challenge for another year, but rules like this can be changed, and I think they will change them.

no Tory leader, except IDS had lost a first ballot I believe. But each has gone within a year.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 06/06/2022 21:02

148 votes against

12Thorns · 06/06/2022 21:02

41% against.

surely he can’t carry on

meow1989 · 06/06/2022 21:02

Well there we go.

AnnaKar · 06/06/2022 21:04

He stays …for now.

Come on Tories - act.
You are embarrassed by your leader, with no morals. Boris was shown up this weekend. The contrast between the leadership, integrity and service of the Queen and that of the PM….

WildRosie · 06/06/2022 21:06

148 against is an awful lot. Safe for now, at least.

Nat6999 · 06/06/2022 21:18

Ds has just said that the opposition can call for a vote of no confidence in the government if the 148 vote with them then they will have the numbers to force a general election.

Happygirl79 · 07/06/2022 13:32

Take into account that of the 211 who voted for him 95 of these are MPs on the government payroll. They can't vote against him without losing their jobs so voted for themselves really rather than Boris Johnson. Its a stupid system and needs revising

Knittingchamp · 07/06/2022 14:08

Johnson has showed himself to be lowest common denominator 'bodge it' quality. The by elections might be carnage, in which case that will truly be the beginning of the end. How embarrassing to be so unpopular and incompetent. At least the fallacy of 'oh but he's so much more intelligent than he looks, he's a classics expert don't you know' has fallen off the radar now, and everyone can all see him for the below average lazy bloke he is.

Notonthestairs · 07/06/2022 14:15

Happygirl - government payroll is 160-170 (includes trade envoys, PPS and vice chairs).

Thank you. I stand corrected.

Happygirl79 · 07/06/2022 18:00

I do think it's a bit pointless to allow people on the government payroll to vote on this. Surely it's a conflict of interest. You are probably going to protect your job and therefore its almost a guaranteed vote of confidence for Boris even if the people don't want to support him in truth?

Notonthestairs · 07/06/2022 18:44

I agree - and it's quite an incentive to keep a large payroll.
