Gym trial today, what should I do?

I've got a gym trial in an hour, I've not used a gym for years and feel quite nervous about it, what should I use? How can I start getting back into the gym?
I also have strange pain in bottom of my foot, I've had it for weeks. Not sure what it is?

That’s great. I assume someone will be showing you around? It’s totally normal for someone in the gym to be able to pull together a plan for you to work on. Are there any classes to help you learn how to use the equipment?

If no-one is showing you around then start gently. Maybe 2x pieces of cardio equipment (like the rower for a gentle 10 minutes followed by treadmill gentle 10 minutes). An easy 3 sets of 12 reps on some strength equipment, then a cool down on some cardio in a similar way to your warm up.

hope that makes sense.

It does thank you!
If I do join think might have to get GP appointment for foot, it's also got a really nice pool so can use that too.

Plantar fasciitis for the foot pain?

The first day in a new gym is always daunting. My first day in one near me today....I'm sitting in the cafe bit waiting for my 'Afrodance' class to start. What makes it all more difficult is that I'm not in the UK and my language abilities are pretty nonexistent (though do understand left and right which might come in useful 😁)

As long as you make it through the door, the rest will be easy 😆

I bottled it and had a swim!
So when I got back I will use the gym!

What do you want to achieve from the gym? Having a plan greatly helps rather than wandering around. Do you want to increase strength, stamina/fitness? It’s really useful to book a PT to help guide with correct form for free weights.

Ideally you’ll want to track progress, so having a few plans of the same exercises for a few months but increasing reps/sets (or lowering reps/increasing weight depending on your goal).

Hm good question. I want to improve general fitness, do strength training. There are two free PT sessions as a new member so I'm going to book those to get me started.
