I've got my nephew for 2 days this week he is 4 and I don't know where to take him or what to do with him ideas please? He is extremely energetic. I live in a city and I've got a car so can drive us somewhere.

Which city?

BritInUS1 · 05/06/2022 21:16

Swimming
Soft play
Park
Picnic
Seaside
Crafts
Walk to the duck pond to feed the ducks
Zoo

It may help if you tell us where you are

BritInUS has a good lost.
I'd add, a local farm and cooking.

Day 1. Nice breakfast together, out to the biggest local park for 11amish take a picnic... have an ice cream. Get home in time for a chill out, dinner, bath and bed.

Day 2. Breakfast at a local cafe, go to a local museum or soft play. Go home and do a couple of pages of drawing/scrap booking of what you've both been up to- sticking down leaves etc

I'd do a day out on one of the days. Like to the zoo or farm or the beach.

Then on the other day go out in the morning to a good park with equipment. Take a blanket, a ball and food. Then back home for the afternoon.

Is he an early waker? Mine were up at 5am or earlier at that age so needed lunch by 11am. We often did 2 outings, e.g. park in the morning, then lunch relatively early and then softplay in the afternoon

Keep snacks on hand, lots if kids don't eat well at meal times and are hungry at the most inconvenient times

Park
Treasure hunt walk, draw things and tick them off
Park again
Farm
Craft activities may fill an hour or so
Cbeebies towards the end of the day for some chill time. Make sure he doesn't sleep.

For the first day, swimming or an adventure playground in a park/woodland. Find somewhere with a good cafe or take a picnic. If there are any indoor swimming-pools near you with slides or splash areas for younger children, those are great - my DC will fall asleep on the sofa after a day out at our local one.

Then back to yours for baking, painting or similar, depending on what you have in the house. My 5yo loves baking but it does make a mess. We tend to get those cupcake kits - the Spectacular Science ones are quite fun, or you can get dinosaur or Paw Patrol ones depending on what he's into. Cutting and sticking is also a hit with that age group - you just need a glue stick, scissors, a piece of paper or card and whatever scraps of paper you have around the house.

Pizza, film (recommend Paw Patrol movie, Planes or something NOT scary) and popcorn for the evening. Put child in pyjamas before the movie starts in case he falls asleep during it, so he can easily be transferred to bed.

For the next day, I'd recommend soft play. Hopefully there will be other children there for him to play with, so you don't have to go in the frame yourself 😁!

Role play centre
Swimming
Local park/splash pad if the weather is nice
Cinema (there may be a toddler session on)
Farm park

This is perfect.
