Causes of Night Sweats that are not (Peri) Menopause

So on the back of another thread I started earlier about wool duvets, it’s become clear that many people suffer from night sweats for reasons other than menopause or peri menopause.
I assumed mine were just hormonal since they started in my pregnancy with my first dc and haven’t stopped since.
If not just hormones, what could they be? Given what I’ve learnt today from other thread, I will, obviously go to the gp. Just asking for an idea of causes, really.

Anxiety, temperature deregulation (of varying causes), anything that causes a fluctuation on heart rate or blood pressure, a hot room, allergies....multiple things really.

I'm not in menopause but have night sweats, I have dysautonomia, POTS and a number of health conditions. It's a real irritant but I find having a small cordless fan charged ready to go and cooling gel packs from the fridge make it bearable. Oddly I also find not eating late at night helps, and no hot baths or showers in the vicinity of bedtime.

Pretty sure some people are just born that way. Baffles me that some people don't need to shower in the morning (and don't stink), or that there's a common belief that shall kids don't sweat.

I assume that doesn't apply to you and isn't helpful.

Sometimes hormones settle to a different normal after kids, I wouldn't rule it out.

Definitely much worse when I’ve been drinking alcohol.
And better if I wear light pyjamas rather than sleeping naked. Sleeping naked is the worst and I wake up drenched.

Lupus.

I think a lot will depend on how quickly the symptoms have been present and whether they are getting worse and other symptoms. See GP.

You can just press the watch button rather than post following. It's easier that way :)

Kidney Cancer, doesn't show up in blood tests either. It shows on CT or Ultrasound.

Being too full of food
Drinking alcohol

i have night sweats if I do either of these. I have now gone tee-total and I don’t eat after 6.30pm as a rule and try not to be over full.

polkadotpup · 05/06/2022 20:22

I get them if I have a cold/ fever. Usually the fever "breaks" and I swear but then ok
However I'd keep a diary and check other symptoms and maybe get an MOT for yourself. Take care

Work stress - I wake every night drenched and wonder why then start thinking about work, panic and realise why I'm sweating and feel like crap...
