They are firm but have gone brown.

Dated 27/5 just so you know that they’re not months old. I usually ignore dates btw.

Eat or bin?

I've eaten beans like this plenty of times, I'm sure you'll be fine!

Applegreenb · 04/06/2022 17:47

No idea but I’ve always chucked them when they looked like this.

Etinoxaurus · 04/06/2022 17:48

They’ll be fine. Certainly safe, just not as palatable as v fresh. Beans are the only veg I like very boiled and salty like the french cook haricots.

If they smell ok I'd eat them

SunnyPineapple · 04/06/2022 17:53

Thank you. I think I’ll cook them. This is a bit outing but I can’t currently rely on sense of taste or smell!

Ffs how is it outing, you've got covid?

They'll be a bit mushy.

You may want to get your thread deleted. I live in a small village and a local woman who likes green beans on Facebook has posted that she currently has Covid. So, it must be you.

SunnyPineapple · 04/06/2022 18:08

Alright obviously it’s not outing. It’s been a long day.

Chances are that once they have been cooked the green colour will come back - I've had the exact same thing with beans and they are usually fine!

TargusEasting · 04/06/2022 18:19

Yes it has 'bean' has it not. Honestly, just give them to your neighbours rabbits as we discussed earlier in the car park at the village hall. Or put them in the bin and try not to waste beans and packaging in future.

And the average thread on MN bakes about 3kg of CO2 into the atmosphere. MN will not apply efficacies though. Your beans are as important as Universal Credit, war crimes in Ukraine, and marriage breakdown.

JuneOsborne · 04/06/2022 18:19

I'd be picking out the worst ones and eating the rest!

Mindymomo · 04/06/2022 18:32

@JuneOsborne I have done the same many times, I just throw out the really bad ones, same with any other veg.

thenumberseven · 04/06/2022 18:47

Yesterday I made a chicken and vegetable broth, I put in beans that looked like yours and other vegetables that were past their best and sad looking, when I went to strain the broth the vegetables all looked fine, the green beans you'd never have guessed that I almost chucked them out, same with the limp carrots

user1471517095 · 04/06/2022 18:59

I'd eat them, but then I scrape the mold off of everything - except meat - and eat it.

Carrotten · 04/06/2022 19:04

I've eaten them like that many times. Not gonna cause any harm

😂😂😂

I was worried it was me as I have had a sinus infection.
But then I remembered I don't have green beans 🤷🏼‍♀️

Joystir59 · 04/06/2022 19:41

The are safe to eat- I wouldn't serve them to guests cos if how they look, but I'd eat them.myself. Beans go over surprisingly quickly.
