Pointless rant about building works

No point to this post whatsoever, building works are noisy and water is wet.
Pulled something in my neck and lying miserably on the sofa. Would have preferred to lie down miserably in the garden as it's a lovely sunny day, but can't because neighbour is putting up scaffolding for a loft conversion and it's bloody noisy. No point going over there to tell them that they're not allowed to be doing this on a bank holiday, they've started now and probably not easy to reschedule/would cost money. He's a nice neighbour, I suppose I don't want to fall out with him, but why isn't he more worried about falling out with me?
DH have a joke that people doing loft conversions is the soundtrack of summer because we've been in this house for 8 years and each summer someone in the road does their bloody loft up.
It seems, in our area anyway, that people say in too small houses and just add rooms in every direction. I've seen some absolute Frankensteins on rightmove.
Almost wish that it would rain 😡

I feel you, on our road it's new rooves with the bloody noisy clanky scaffolding going up/down at 6am (against council rules!) and the hammering and the roofers yelling obscenities at one another and their vans and trucks cluttering up the street and causing parking wars/road rage - I think the same set of sweary roofers are just moving from one house to another cos as soon as one finishes the next one starts! I guess you do just have to suck it up though, people need to maintain their houses and with the extensions it's much cheaper usually to add rooms to your current house than sell and trade up for a bigger one, I know what you mean about the franken-houses though, our terrace was originally little two room workers cottages and they've all sprouted extra stories, rear extensions, loft conversions, cellar conversions, basically unrecognisable from original form - but in the original they'd be pretty useless other than for a single person or maybe childless couple and even then pretty cramped by modern standards (original bathrooms would have been outdoors so they've had to be squeezed in) so I guess I am (theoretically) glad they're now available for families and so on but it doesn't make the process of hearing the work happening any nicer! If it makes you feel better it's absolutely pissing down today so no-one would be enjoying their garden anyway!

I feel you too. New neighbour has been building since January and has ignored the council rules about not building on bank holidays and Saturday afternoons.
I've raised it with him many times and he's denied it or got aggressive. He finally admitted it a couple of days ago but said he was doing me a favour because his building would be finished quicker!
I actually hate him.

You have my sympathy..... my neighbours have been building a monstrosity of a garden for months and it's nowhere near finished. Not only are we having to put up with the noise but we'll also lose almost all of our privacy when it's finished. It looks bloody awful too.

The noisiest of work was when I had covid. All I wanted to was sleep .... I cried a few times in frustration!
