Glo worms, my little pony, popples

If you were a child in the 80’s what were you favourite toys?

Which you are you still bitter about never receiving? I think Mr Frosty is the toy most adults are bitter about not getting 😂

I desperately wanted a glo worm and a Mr Frosty and never received either!

I had a Mr Frosty. He was terrible and impossible for a child to operate. Cheese grating rock hard ice kept my dad out of mischief though.

I wanted a Speak and Spell, but my mother refused to let me have speaking toys unless they spoke "proper English". Anything with an American accent was banned. She's still funny about accents to this day.

Tiny Tears, Cabbage Patch kids ( still collect), Big Red Fun Bus, yellow teapot.

TaVeryMuchLove · 03/06/2022 19:46

Keepers. They were toys with a secret lockable compartment. Mine was a swan.

Ware Bears were also very cool.

I had a lot of the most coveted toys. A' la carte kitchen, yellow tea pot, cabbage patch kids. But I really wanted a glo worm and a mr frosty.

Latenightthoughts111 · 03/06/2022 19:53

Anyone remember the hugga bunch? They lived in the mirror??

Toddlerteaplease · 03/06/2022 19:54

Had pound puppies and my sister had silvaynians.

Latenightthoughts111 · 03/06/2022 19:55

Also does anyone remember a doll with antenna and the antenna were flowers or sunshines? They were quite big dolls like cabbage patch size and I think a plastic face

Big Track! It was SO cool! loved programming it to go round the lounge - still remember the cat watching it with suspicion

not technically a toy but my favourite thing ever were blue suede roller boots! I loved them!

2MinuteRice · 03/06/2022 20:01

I wasn't allowed a Mr Frosty either. Got one as an adult and it was very disappointing. Mum was right, it wasn't strong enough to cut ice.
She did buy me a nutibullet a few years ago that definitely does cut the ice! Grin

Chickaboos

katmarie · 03/06/2022 20:17

Oh, also my sister had the fashion wheel thing. And my other sister had a spirograph, those were both cool.

I had black suede roller boots with red wheels and a red stopper at the front! Loved those roller boots 😀

I always wanted a fashion wheel - never got one.
i got lots of plaster of Paris kits and those cardboard figures that you could dress with cardboard clothes that had tabs on them. Always wanted a Spirograph too!

I always wanted the Get-along Gang toys, especially the dog with roller skates. Also really loved the Rainbow Brite toys.

StarTwins · 03/06/2022 20:29

I loved My Little Pony best and having two sisters we had quite the herd - Bow Tie, Twilight, a rainbow one with a glittery cloud on its bum, Lemon Drop, Peaches, Majesty, Lickety Split, Cherries Jubilee, baby Applejack, Gingerbread. Still got them all except Gingerbread, who had gem eyes - don’t know where she is, she was my favourite! We also had the show stable, Castle and grooming parlour.

My other favourite toy was Sindy, especially the amazing Masquerade Sindy with her curls, fan and mask and Labyrinth style ball dress. Also had Rain and Shine Sindy, who had a sundress and an umbrella. Third favourite - the Viewmaster!

The toy I wanted but never got was those hologram things called Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light, but I think it would have been a bit shit.

Daisychainsandglitter · 03/06/2022 21:00

I came on to say Keypurs but I see I've been beaten to it. I loved them!
My sister had sylvanian families but I always thought they were boring.

lollipoprainbow · 03/06/2022 21:07

The dairy milk mini chocolate vending machine, I desperately wanted it for Christmas and I can still remember looking in my parents wardrobes where all the Christmas presents were wrapped and hidden and finding it after tearing a little bit of the wrapping paper off !

lollipoprainbow · 03/06/2022 21:09

I was desperate for a sindy house but they were too expensive. I was friends with a girl at school who has everything including this and I loves going to her house to see it although she didn't like me playing with it ! She also had a 'speak and spell'.

BunsyGirl · 03/06/2022 21:12

I had a Snugglebum. It’s now my pet name for my eight year old. He thinks I made it up ha ha!

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 03/06/2022 21:18

We did finally get a Mr Frosty, but it wasn’t great.

I loved my Charmkins house and windmill!

Would have to agree with others, I wanted the Dairy Milk dispenser thingy, but never got it.

KylieCharlene · 03/06/2022 21:20

I loved Jem and her flashing star earrings.
I also had Lady Lovely Locks with those hair clips you could put in your own hair.

Also Lady Lovely Locks

I had - and still have - a Pound puppy! It has a Velcro stomach where you could
open it up and put the three babies in. One of them had their eyes closed.

Anyone remember the shoes with the key? Were they called Starlite or something?

One of my school friends had these shoes that had a game on the bottom of the heel where you had to get the little ball bearings in the holes. Hours of fun (not very hygienic though, in hindsight 😂)
