Cost of new bathroom - any ideas?

Any idea how much it'd cost for a new bathroom - doesn't have to be anything too plush, toilet, sink, bath, possible new shower off boiler and tiling, all in same location? Also, they'll be new flooring.

Don't think we can really afford it, but we've been trying to turn an eye to a very chipped bath for a long time and just realised this afternoon the toilet is leaking underneath (can't see where as it's enclosed). Either way toilet needs replacing, but wondering if we can afford to do more.

Oh that £5000 included fitting and an towel radiator. In east anglia though where prices are lower than SE.

I used plumb centre to buy mine with his trade card which he thankfully still has

We are getting ours done at the moment. It is a tiny shower room (shower, sink and loo) and I have gone with nice but cheap fittings. We have been quoted £4500 labour and are probably paying about £3000 for all the other bits. We did buy all the bathroom bits about 6 months ago though so they may well have gone up in price. We are in the north. I would be impressed if you can get a whole bathroom done for less than £10,000.

We've recently had quotes for our small bathroom, replacing the bath, toilet and sink and redoing tiling and floor. They were around £9k.

Ours was just shy of £10k. Standard bathroom, shower over bath, nothing fancy. Shower mains, not electric. Wet wall panels fitted. Flooring too.

madroid1 · 02/06/2022 09:10

If you are keeping the location of everything the same and your pipework is fairly modern (ie isolation valves) it really isn't that hard to do yourself. Replacing bath and washbasin would be easy. Replacing shower more complicated but not hard if all the pipework fits still. Just bring in a tiler?

Echo get plumber fast for leaky bog. Eww!

We have just had both our en-suite and bathroom partially redone because of leaks in both from showers. Labour was £2500 and included taking out shower and tiles round it, installing new shower and tray, new tiles round it and tiling floor in very small en-suite. Also new towel rail fitted. In bathroom we just had new loo, bath and taps fitted. Bath reinforced. We bought all fittings ourselves - about £1000. Waste disposal not included - we've filled a hippo bag and it's awaiting collection - £180. I am decorating so about £100 on paint etc. Going to also spend about £500 on new cabinets etc. So about £4500 to half do two rooms on the cheap with nothing fancy at all - all basic fittings from Plumbworld and similar. Looks much better though and more importantly doesn't leak!

Forgot to add we're going to have to add at least another £1000 for repairing damage to decoration downstairs from leaks in upstairs bathrooms...but we are having to live with that for a while. So my advice would be do it sooner rather than later if you possibly can or else it will cost more in the long run.

Mine was fitted a few years ago from Wickes. It was c.£8k

traintraveller · 02/06/2022 10:23

I had my small bathroom refitted in December. Everything was replaced in the same place (no bath just a large walk in shower). Some pipes were boxed in, new floor, ceiling with spotlights, large tallboy cupboard and wet walling. Was £4300 all in.

traintraveller · 02/06/2022 10:25

Forgot to add in the heated towel rail

Thank you everyone. I intend to call our plumber on Monday to sort toilet. If we get really stuck we do have emergency cover on our insurance, so can at least get everything isolated. Rest of bathroom will definitely have to follow as need time to think about fittings, tiles and no decent plumber/builder is going to be available to just do a week's.

Luckily everything will be in the same place, we won't need spotlights and extractor fan redone - cabinet and shelf are in good order as well. I haven't got a problem painting afterwards, although, I hate it.

Ours was about 6k but we did some of it ourselves (eg. Ripping old stuff out, some of the woodwork) - although when I say 'we', I mean my DH! Grin

ancientgran · 02/06/2022 10:41

Had mine done last year and it was just under £6k. I sourced alot of the stuff, I needed a new floor due to an old leak, some plastering, new bath, loo, sink, tiles etc, spent more than necessary on some items so I could have done it for £5k.

BlackandJello · 02/06/2022 11:01

We've just had ours done, it's a small bathroom and cost about £3.5k.

We bought all of the fittings and fixtures ourselves, and then the labour was £2k.

We've just done ours - but DP did the majority of work himself - and I think we are going to be coming in just over £6k. We spent money on the tiling because the tiling really does make the bathroom but went relatively cheap with bath, sink etc.

Wiseflower · 07/06/2022 23:37

Depends on the work needed - it is the work involved that adds to the quote. removing old tiles, re-plastering, new plumbing. Tiling would be the most expensive part.
We are near London and for our small bathroom - quote to replace everything and replastering, wall and floor tiles: - £10,000. Others quoted £15000 for luxury end.
We havent got the time to put a new bathroom ourselves and it would take months, so prefer to pay someone to do this work over 2 weeks.. Saving time, saves money.
