Packs of seeds (bit of a marmite one this but I love them)

Mini pencils or rubbers (this sort of thing tinc.co.uk/products/jungle-eraser-collection?pr_prod_strat=copurchase&pr_rec_id=f4f8e0fdc&pr_rec_pid=3974416695368&pr_ref_pid=4446706663496&pr_seq=uniform)

10 for £10 books from the works. If you're feeling fancy, loop some curling ribbon through the book, put a hole punch in the corner of the sweet bag, ribbon through the hole and tie them together.

Brighteyedtriangle · 01/06/2022 13:38

Thanks, I havent seen that website before. So noted for future.

Will try the works as I cant get anything that needs delivering due to bank holidays

People always say books on here but I’m not convinced kids would be impressed by that and the books that are in that deal at the works are rather rubbish in my experience.
bubbles are always popular with my DC; Tesco snd Asda do multi packs of party bag toys

My local works has loads that fit in with the typical KS1 reading lists - Meg and Mog, Jill Murphy etc. In my experience the plastic tat of party bags either breaks or gets discarded pretty soon after the sweets are eaten.

Go into Poundland and grab a toy each or homebargains, something like a mini rubix cube or cube snake

Bimblybomeyelash · 01/06/2022 13:49

I think that a good cheap party bag is cake, sweets, balloon, mini bubbles and a tattoo.

I had to do this a few weeks ago for a similar number.
We had a meal so I gave the bags at the beginning to entertain the kids while they waited for food so I know what they did and didnt use!
All bought from amazon in multi packs:
Colouring books/activity books and crayons were not used.
They loved the bubbles
They liked the gaming wrist bands
I had a boy/girl split so little cars for the boys and springs for the girls.

Novelty glasses/masks/hats usually go down well

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 01/06/2022 13:53

I just don’t even bother, slice of cake, big smile; byeeeee

smileyworld · 01/06/2022 13:57

No plastic tat. It's just the worst. I put all this crap straight in the bin.

Waste of money. Waste of resources. Waste of time.

A little box of smarties, some bubble mixture, stickers. Little box of pencils. My kids LOVE getting books. A refillable ice lolly maker. A rock with their name painted on it (my kids adored this so much!)

Or... a piece of cake.

It's really a crap trend which encourages consumerism and plastic shit. Can you guess I am not a fan of plastic tat?

OldTinHat · 01/06/2022 14:01

Baker Ross have cheap craft kits that are sold in bulk for party bags.

CuttedUpDress · 01/06/2022 14:02

I bought sticker sheets and a mini bubble wand.

PipsM · 01/06/2022 14:03

Definitely agree with the works books. We have given them out the last couple of parties and they have gone down well with some sweets. You can get some good deals on quality authors and then I wrap them up.
Just beware the difficulty in removing the bloody stickers if they arrive with them on. I spent ages using a hairdryer on them (worked for half of them) and then bought some sticky stuff remover which was amazing!
Plastic tat just breaks or hangs around being ignored.
I love this idea of seeds as well though! Will store that one.

winesolveseverything · 01/06/2022 14:03

I did those curly reusable straws and a little spy notebook with invisible ink pen- has a special light in the lid to see the writing.
Bought in packs from Amazon.
Some sweets and cake. Sorted.

Needmorelego · 01/06/2022 14:05

Get rid of the balloons. I hate the f-ing things. Children put them in their mouths to attempt to blow them up and I am always terrified that they are going to choke on them. Horrible things and bad for the environment too.
I suggest Hot Wheels style cars. Always popular.
Cake, sweets and a Hot Wheel is plenty.
(Also everyone always suggests seeds. That only works if you live somewhere where everyone has a garden. If you live in a place with lots of flats then people have no where to grow them)

User280905 · 01/06/2022 14:05

Sweets and cake. I tend to make fairy cakes instead of a big cake so you don't have to cut and wrap in napkins. Grab bag of maltesers then you're done.

Skip the plastic toys. All the parents will thank you.

Brighteyedtriangle · 01/06/2022 14:11

Bubbles and stickers for the win I think

And sorry to the person who thinks its a crap trend I think every parent will probably agree with you but the kids seem to love them

I agree with this.

Asda do some things and Amazon too - little bouncy balls, sticky toys etc.

Last bag I did had a fancy biro pen, little notebook, small craft kit, sweets and cake.

My rules (for mine) and nothing that breaks easily, nothing messy, and nothing that requires parental input... and hopefully environmentally friendly. (Craft kits I chose little etch arts from The Range for 70p each over the mini sewing kits for this reason!)
