To be annoyed he'd even ask

Three kids. He's playing golf Saturday yet just rang all sheepish saying well I've been asked to play tomorrow as well what do think?
I said no but aibu to be annoyed he even asked?

I think I'd have given him the choice of either day. I hope you're getting a day to yourself over the bank holiday?

itsgettingweird · 01/06/2022 13:15

Yabu to be annoyed he asked. He asked, you gave an answer and I presume (as you didn't say to the contrary) he's accepted it.

It could have been possible you said ok and then said you'd have x weekend off and we're going away somewhere.

toastedbagiel · 01/06/2022 13:16

There must be an imbalance for a couple of days golf to bother you. It wouldn't me, but I almost certainly have more 'free' time than DH does. Do you never get time to do your own thing?

TidyDancer · 01/06/2022 13:24

Is he offering up Friday and Sunday for you to have time to yourself?

I'd rather do family stuff tbf than having days by myself and him by himself

Depends on age of kids and if golf can be done by early afternoon

Deathraystare · 02/06/2022 17:10

"Yes but as long as you take the kids with you".

pictish · 02/06/2022 17:13

All things being equal I don’t think it’s an unreasonable ask. We have three kids and this wouldn’t make a dink on me. Can you elaborate on why you can’t believe he even asked?

ChiselandBits · 02/06/2022 17:15

FGS, he "asks" so the OP has to be the "ball and chain" that says no. How about he does the adult thing and say to his mates, "no, not fair to leave OP for two days straight - maybe we can organise a weekend thing a bit more in advance". or even "no, its been fun but I want to hang out with my family". Assuming he genuinely knew you wouldn't be keen he doesn't get bloody brownie points for asking and meekly accepting the answer - he's not a 4th child.

girlmom21 · 02/06/2022 17:18

He knows you'll say no.
He's too much of a wimp to say no himself so needs to say he's not allowed.
It'd piss me off too.

BattenburgDonkey · 02/06/2022 17:18

I’m guessing there’s loads more to this. But on the face of it I don’t think he shouldn’t have asked, he’s a grown adult and it’s a 4 day weekend so why not ask? Little sad that he needs to ask permission and be refused like a child really, but I’m guessing that’s probably because he doesn’t pull his weight generally and is taking the mick.

Yep I think the same.

Batceanera · 02/06/2022 17:53

I agree with you@ChiselandBits . "D"P wanted to have 2 day passes out. He could have dealt with it himself, clearly he deserves more time to himself than the OP

OP you need to take the same amount of time as he does. If he goes out all day to golf, he needs to equivalent amount of time taking care of everything at home.

Thank you that's spot on

Only sensible comment I've seen. 100% spot on!!!

Chiselandbits summarized the situation perfectly. This way he gets to frame OP as the no-fun spouse.
