Tube strike: taxis?

As it's looking a lot like there will be tube strike in London next Monday, can any London-based Mumsnetters give me an idea of the approximate cost of a taxi from King's Cross to London Victoria in the mid-afternoon? I can see how to get buses but I'm guessing the bus queues will be pretty bad, and I will have luggage... Would a taxi cost £20? £30? £40? £100??

Better off with an Uber? Then you won’t have to watch the meter go up and up and you’ll know the approximate cost already

Doubt the bus will be as bad as you think though ti be honest, tube strikes are bloody annoying but not usually a problem getting a bus.

Loads of buses go from KX to Victoria, I wouldnt bother with a taxi.

Finger in the air figure but somewhere between £18 and £30 for a black cab I reckon. The roads'll be busy if there's a tube strike so you may find yourself stuck in traffic.

Personally I wouldn't bother with Uber, they'll be on surge pricing all day on Monday anyway which will diminish the cost advantage over licensed cabs.

My Uber App is telling me that at the moment it would be £16 - obviously prices do fluctuate and it's possible there would be more demand on Monday due to the strike but even so I would have thought more than £30 max - obviously that's Uber, if you were wanting a black cab it might be more, haven't taken one in years Grin . Also as others have said I don't think bus queues will be that bad outside rush hour though, these days many people just WFH if there's a tube strike rather than battling through central London by other means!

I’d at least try the bus, if you were going to take your luggage on the tube anyway it’s no different getting it onto a bus really.

Carry on to Blackfriars on Thameslink, or further, you may be able to do your journey without the tube. There are direct services from St Pancras to Gatwick Airport for example.

Otherwise the bus is the best option.

Thank you all so much for the advice! It's making me feel a lot less worried about the whole thing.
