Why is it I hard to find an alarm clock?

Is like to slowly give responsibility of waking over to my DC. Upper primary age. I do not want them to have a phone in their rooms - I know this would be the ideal in terms of function I'm looking for.

They need to wake up at different times on different days so I want to be able to pre-set an alarm for each day of the week. Why is this so hard to find? I don't need "multiple" alarms and I don't want to have to faff around every day checking which alarm is set.

No idea. Have you googled?
If you get an electronic one as opposed to an analogue one you should be able to find one with an automatic reset for the next day.

Oh, just read it properly. Preset for different days of the week is harder.

EvilPea · 31/05/2022 11:27

Yes! I’ve bought three for my dd they’ve all broken quickly!
it’s really hard! I’m erring on the side of a robertson one next, when I can afford it.

i have a 30 year old philips one that does different presets for different days. it’s great, but clearly dinosaur in tech age.

Alexa?

EvilPea · 31/05/2022 11:27

I was just going to say would Alexa do it

TeenPlusCat · 31/05/2022 11:28

How about 7 alarm clocks each labelled with a different day of the week?

TeenPlusCat · 31/05/2022 11:30

A different time each day is complicated. I wouldn't give myself that routine. Could you not simplify it at all, even if it means they have an hour to spare some mornings?

How many different alarms do you need. This does 2

Alarm Clock Bedside with Night Light, Simple Large LED Display Big Number Digital Alarm Clocks for Living Room, with Dimmer USB Charger, Dual Alarm Clocks for Christmas Gifts, Room Decor smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08VN6N6XC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TPCZ0W4TYP0PQJ61QRSZ

I think the OP is looking for something where you can pre-programme each day of the week with its own time, and then not have to worry about whether the alarm has been correctly set each night?
A bit like a boiler / central heating function.

My old fitbit can do different vibrating alarms for every day of the week and I can see there's a family account setting you could use, would a basic fitbit or similar be a possibility?

Reallybadidea · 31/05/2022 11:39

Have you got any old mobile phones lying around that you could just use with no sim and WiFi disabled?

I love Alexa, but I don't trust it enough to rely on the alarm function to wake me!

SlipperyLizard · 31/05/2022 11:47

I think Alexa or another smart speaker is your best option - you can set alarms in the app so you can see what’s set/turned on.

CazM2012 · 31/05/2022 11:49

We use an Alexa, pre set alarms for school and clubs but if there’s something I remember the night before a quick change on the app works well. Gets my primary DC up without me having to go in and seems to be less stressful.

Yes. I'm looking for the iPhone alarm without the iPhone 😂 A lot say dual alarm but you can't set the day.

DH is very against Alexa and similar I.e. voice activated things.

We have one which the DC can use to call us if we're out and they're not so it has to be connected to the WiFi. Experience shows that DC1 will get up early just to look through the gifs on messages for hours on end. He will be getting a proper phone soon and we are planning on keeping a no device in bedroom rule.

If DH is against Alexa, then he can sort out the alarm issue!

Not cheap but you program this one with an app but it doesn't need the phone to work. You can also use it on vibrate so the whole house doesn't wake up.
