Do you ever think about drones?

Or is it just me?

We bought a rural house that’s not overlooked with few neighbours for privacy and peace. But, we also live in an AONB. Whenever the weather is nice the drones come out. I have never been able to see the pilots. I very much doubt they want to take photos of my scruffy property, I’d just rather be able to sunbathe in my otherwise private garden and allow my son to run about naked without wondering about whatever it is they’re filming. I’d also like to not have to listen to the awful buzz emitting from them. Alas, I don’t think they’ve broken any law so I just need to put my grown up panties on and get over it. 😂

There are rules and licences for drone flying. See www.caa.co.uk/consumers/remotely-piloted-aircraft/

I’m conflicted.

On a professional level, I can see how they are a useful too for surveying difficult places etc (mountain rescue are going to start using them, which is amazing!)

However, on a personal level I hate them! They ruin the peaceful experience of beautiful places for everyone else who has to listen to them whirring about, just so the “pilot” gets some nice footage for themselves. We were at a supposedly tranquil and contemplative beauty spot the other week and there were two of them whizzing about. Also, sitting in my parents garden and one came zooming up the entire row of back gardens, stopping over each house, like they were casing the joint.

I know there are rules and regs but realistically how can they be enforced?

I’m wary of them. What are they filming etc, I’m not including those used for surveying/ legitimate purpose.

I read a news article yesterday that mentioned boris is going to have a bonfire of EU laws- including relaxing jaws on drone use.

Drones are too easy to learn to fly.
In the old days, if you wanted to learn to fly a radio controlled plane you had to join a club, who would ensure you had insurance, and they would teach you how to fly safely.
These days any old idiot can buy a drone and learn to fly it quickly, and then these idiots just do what they like with little chance of being caught if they do something stupid / illegal.
