Baby bird on lawn

We think our dog disturbed a ground nest in the garden earlier today and killed one baby Sad and the other is sitting in the middle of our lawn. It has some feathers and some fluff. We are very rural with at least one cat nearby which I know comes into our garden. A parent is still coming to see it atm but i can't imagine it will survive if we leave it where it is over night.
What should we do? I think move it into a shrub at the edge of our garden where hopefully the mum/dad will find it? What do you think?

You could look at one of the various other threads about this.

Yes op I would move it into a bush or something just so it isn't so exposed out in the open.

Place it on a secure perch and leave it alone. We just lost 8 mallard ducklings this last week to magpies so its chances are small but at least you will have tried.

Lots of info online on this… it will partially depend how old the bird is…

Thanks all. I have looked online hence thinking best to move to bush - just thought I'd solicit Mumsnet for its wisdom in case I'd missed anything.

It's now in a nearby bush with its old nest material in the cut-out bottom of a cereal box tied in to the branches. Fingers crossed. Poor little mite.

Have you got a bucket or a bowl ? Hang it on a tree with some moss from the ground xx
