Hello!
I've finally bitten the bullet and decided to join a gym in the attempt to loose some weight.
I have no idea where to begin, looking for gym clothes! I'm a size 16-18.. any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Adidas have a great plus size range - I like their longer t-shirts which cover my midriff.
I like Nike leggings too - they have some great patterns.

I wear the snag leggings at the gym as there is no chance of them being see through and they have two pockets. Very comfortable as well and wash very well.

Sports direct - USA pro and under armour. That’s the cheapest way to get started. You can buy the expensive, fashionable stuff once you’ve got into your groove there and know it’s a habit you’ve definitely formed. Voice of bitter experience here!

I have just bought a pair of lightweight running leggings from Decathlon, I'm a size 14 when buying supermarket jeans, and the decathlon 'xl (uk16)' was a good fit today. I also have some tops, in L though and I'm happy with those. All at great prices, and their sizing also seems to go up to 'xxl'

I'm the same size. I'm a hot yogi and a long distance runner and I can fit into exercise gear from anywhere. XL in Sweaty Betty, 16 in LuLuLemon etc. You can shop anywhere. Definitely get properly fitted for a sports bra at eg Bravissimo or JL. This is the area you don't want to scrimp.

Gyms are usually non judgemental spaces. Everyone is focused on themselves so try not to feel self conscious. I wear tight leggings and a tight running vest with a good sports bra in gyms and out on the street and no one has fainted yet if even looked!

Please don't fall into the trap of 'covering up' with a baggy tshirt. It looks awful, you will get hot and sweaty and it will show the sweat and if you do any jumping or anything on the floor it will ride up and you'll spend your time pulling it down. When I first started I wore a tshirt and it was dreadful so I decided I DGAF within about a week and went for cool, comfy, sweat wicking technical clothes and wish I done that from the start.
