Multifocal lens replacement surgery

I've posted about this recently in another thread and got the impression more people might want to know about my experience.

I had lens replacement surgery three weeks ago and would be happy to answer questions about it if anyone is interested in having the procedure themselves.

This was not for cataract but simply to improve my vision. I'm 54 and had the normal degree of presbyopia on top of astigmatism and deteriorating focus at all distances. I was using monofocal contact lenses and four different pairs of glasses.

I was thinking about it for years and eventually the annoyance and inconvenience of not being able to see well at any distance was greater than the fear of the surgery.

I'll caveat this by saying I don't live in the UK. I live in Germany and had the procedure done there.

@Sandblaster123 I do have some degree of halo around lights but I already had that after the laser surgery so I am very used to it. It has not got any worse after the lens replacement.

It doesn't bother me at all. I find it rather pretty actually. Fairly lights do indeed look amazing!

I don't drive so problems with headlights at night is not an issue for me. When I am a passenger in a car at night I can't say I've noticed a problem with headlights.

With this sort of surgery as with cataract surgery, there is a danger of retinal detachment. Think it's due to pressure changes in the eye.

Xh has sarcoidosis and has had uveitis and choroiditis, with the choroid bleeding. He was given massive doses of steroids to save his sight, and developed cataracts as a result. He was told the cataracts cannot be operated on until he is virtually blind due to the risk of retinal detachment.

Glad it worked for you, OP
