Should I report this - potential child abuse.

I was taking a walk and saw a child (10/11 yo) get out of a car (car 1) and go the one parked next to it (car 2). There was a lady in 1 and man in 2. When child approached 2, car drove off with child trying to get in. He was screaming “dad stop!”. Looked like the father was trying to get away from the child. Child was running after car. Car 2 eventually stopped. Child was trying to get in, and was kicking the car begging to be let in. Car 1 drove to car 2. Looked like an argument between parents - lady was shouting “why are you doing this to him”. Child eventually got into car 2.
I have the number plate. Shocked at what I saw.

Yes, report it. That was dangerous as well as very worrying.

agentshreddie · 29/05/2022 12:12

yes report it. when in doubt report it! say it was a very dangerous situation for the child to be in and she/he seemed extremely distressed. some people are just disgusting aren't they.

Yes. Please do

GoldenLightNights · 29/05/2022 12:26

Absolutely! Poor kid 😔

Yes report it. May help the woman prove he’s an arsehole -

It's probably a standing joke with the child!! My husband will still do this on occasion with me and my green up kids, it's very mildly irritating sometimes depending on where it is, but it's in fun.

If there's a problem let the other person involved deal with it who actually knows what's going on and what the truth is.

Eeerrrr no! Report and let the police decide - the poor child could have been injured

It doesn’t sound like the child was having fun.

Hoping that other people report potential abuse is why so many people get away with it.

You’ve got a weird sense of humour.

Yes report it, awful awful behaviour, so damaging.

Shagforamillionquid · 29/05/2022 12:52

Thank you all.

Child was crying and distressed that his father wouldn’t let him into the car and shouting stop. Child was holding onto car as father drove off. When car stopped, car was locked as far as I could tell as child was still shouting to let him in. When car 1 drove up, the man unlocked the car. This certainly was not a joke.

Definitely report it, it

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 29/05/2022 12:56

Pressed 'post' too soon. I would definitely report it. It sounds like the child was incredibly distressed.

Confused What's the funny part when there was a distressed child running after the car and trying to get in? Struggling to see where the 'joke' is.

Report it, OP.

Mychitchatdays · 29/05/2022 13:04

My stepdad used to do this to us growing up. I absolutely hated it. It wasn't funny and I didn't see the joke in it. I'd report it.

Why are you asking then?

Widgets · 29/05/2022 13:21

Yes absolutely report it, if you are asking here and you are sure it wasn’t a joke and you took the registration number then you know the answer yourself, your gut instinct was worry for the child and any situation where someone is worried about a child needs to be reported, nothing will happen if all is ok and it was a (horrible nasty) joke but if there is more to it you could potentially be protecting that child from future harm.
please please report it
