What should I buy for a new Mum?

What would a new mum like after baby arrives?
I'm sure there have been a few threads asking this but I can't find them.
I'd be really grateful for some ideas - thanks Dan.

Amazing voucher.

Deliveroo or Just Eats voucher.

Furrbabymama87 · 28/05/2022 16:28

Definitely a Just Eat voucher. Or something food based.

girlmom21 · 28/05/2022 16:29

Either Just Eat or something for a local coffee shop - or Starbucks because they're super breastfeeding friendly

Mindful Chef gift box or voucher

Movingdreams · 28/05/2022 16:57

Large chocolate bars (good stuff) and a decent magazine or two

Voucher for a food delivery as pp have mentioned, or coffee shop gift card

People often suggest a good hand cream, and a mug thermos to keep a drink hot while sitting feeding or baby asleep on you for ages

If she lives elsewhere to you just check that there are places on Just Eat and Deliveroo for where she lives.

A hamper with chocolates, snacks and cereal bars ect (not things for the baby, things for the mum) x

AssignedBlobbyAtBirth · 28/05/2022 17:11

I bought a cheese hamper of the cheeses she had missed when pregnant.

Someone bought me a load of M&S ready meals.
The most useful thing that anyone has ever got for me.

Someone else gave me a H&M voucher which was amazing.

I also had a Pandora charm.

The M&S is the one that sticks in my mind as the most thoughtful present. I remember crying 2 days after having my first baby because I felt like I didn't have time to eat or cook. Then these landed on my doorstep and I cried with relief!

The cheese thing is a great idea if she’s into it. On my first postpartum trip to the supermarket I bought 40 quids worth of unpasteurised cheese and ate it all 😂

If she’s planning on breastfeeding then some nice nursing vests. My friends got me a few sets and I’m living in them, they were the best thing I got!

Chocolate, biscuits, flapjacks, cakes etc basically all the food! Perhaps a food hamper or delivery voucher. Some nice shower gel to feel a bit more human and like they are getting a treat in those very hard early days. A decent hand cream to combat all the crazy hand washing. A mug shaped flask to keep drinks hot but not feel like you’re off on an expedition. A large water bottle to keep drinks cold. Comfy items like a big blanket, cosy socks, a nursing pillow.

You can also never have enough muslins but that’s for the baby really.

I really appreciated flowers and a diffuser with some lovely scented oils to feel like my home was a lovely little haven but I know some peoples aren’t in to diffusers/candles etc and find flowers a nuisance. Depends on the person!

Definitely some time saving food - ready meals or takeaway vouchers etc.
Close friends ordered a food delivery (lots of treats and quick cook meals) for us when my first was born, I cried when it arrived and still well up thinking about it now haha

Food is a bit meh.
A voucher for back, neck and shoulder massage in a local beauty salon would be so much better. Use the app called Treatwell if you need to find somewhere.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2022 17:50

Another who says something to make her life easier.

Instant coffee sachets and a thermos mug.

Easy foods that are filling and good calories - especially if bf.

I love the idea mentioned above of having a food shop delivered of all things that she'd love to eat and easy food - I'd also love the cheese Grin

Thanks peeps - some really good ideas here.
... 40 quids worth of unpasteurised cheese ... made me smile 🙂
Thanks again - Dan.
