Dry socket advice

I know the chances of an actual dentist seeing this is remote-but has anyone got any advice for treating dry socket at home?
Basically, I somehow miraculously managed to develop it on day 8 🤦🏻‍♀️ The dentist has already packed it once with their blissful brown stuff-but now it’s starting to smell funky so I want to be able to replace it myself without bothering the dentist.
I have both clove oil and Eugenol (don’t really know the difference) but I can’t figure out a safe way of packing it myself.
The internet has been NO help-every page has conflicting advice. So I was wondering if any of you had packed your own successfully-and how you actually did it?

@WhimsicalGubbins @Notanotherwindow

The tooth is out and it was absolutely horrible. I’m being dramatic again but it felt barbaric - crunching and pulling and wrenching. I started to cry my eyes out while he was removing it, I was shaking like a leaf and the very kind dental nurse was rubbing my arm and whispering encouragement.

He said salt water isn’t necessary and he has never recommended it, which makes me feel better! He says it’s a good-sized blood clot and he’s confident I’ll be okay.

I’ve totally turned this thread into The Amusedbush Show and I’m sorry - though I appreciate the advice and support!

it’s the WORST, I hope you get sorted soon

Hey @amusedbush thats totally fine by me!
mum glad you were able to find some support in this thread.
Im so sorry it was traumatic, but well done you!! You’re far braver than you give yourself credit for-I genuinely don’t think an 18 month wait would have made me get it done without the sedation, so hats off to you warrior
Take it easy now, follow all the advice you were given-and on the very minor off chance that you do develop a dry socket, take yourself off to the dentist to get it packed. It’ll take the pain away almost instantly.
But remember, it’s only about 5% that do develop it, I just got too vigorous with the rinsing
