Staycation ideas!

So just pondering over the thought of a staycation this summer with my 2 sons.
Literally just a couple of nights, something like center parcs or ribbey hall but not ££££££.
Does anyone have any ideas? Ideally northwest!
Thinking a holiday park like haven or something f where there's things to do but I've heard good and bad things and I don't know where to start 🙈
I don't have a lot of money but really want to do something special!

What age are the kids?

Havens great if you want to do days out and the beach daytime, then entertainment in the evening. Or maybe Butlins or a theme park if the kids are s bit older.

Haven/Parkdean are great for holidays, but a word of warning - they’re not the Center Parcs avoiding bargain they used to be and sone of the sites are crazy money over summer

I’ve not been to a north west one though so can’t recommend any - north east or north wales I could though

If you are leaving your home it's a holiday.

Centrepiece equivalents are not a staycation.

If you want a uk holiday look at some of the holiday parks although most are booked already and seriously £££££ collated to normal.

A lot of people rate Ribby Hall.
You can go out to Blackpool or Lytham if you fancy a change.

How old are they? Can they swim? Canal boat? Teach them to drive a boat and do locks.

A staycation means you stay home, relax and do day trips or some fun things locally.

What you're asking about is a holiday in the UK.

If you like the idea of a holiday park go onto say "Haven" or "Parkdean" website, type in the dates you want to go and see what's available, I think they do three days breaks.

Or find a couple of places that you'd like to visit in the same area then book a holiday rental, again you can usually book a cottage or flat for three nights (try Trip Advisor, cottages.com etc). Or a couple of nights in a Premier Inn with the all you can eat breakfast included.

How old are your kids? Do you want a seaside break? Theme Parks?

They are 2 and 5 sorry I should've said!

I like the idea of going to a resort but hears some awful things about some local ones so I don't know where is safe 🙈

Butlins. Not cheap but we have lucky enough to go on some fabulous long haul holidays but it's butlins my kids remember and still talk about.

Ugh don't you just love those jobsworths who just want to comment on it not being a "staycation". Get a life, you know what she means.

I would suggest here...

Newton hall Blackpool. We went couple years back, clean not too busy. Entertainment on weekend and in school holidays. Swimming pool, fishing lake.near zoo. Caravan are lovely, cant recommend enough and not as expensive as centre parks and haven. ( well it wasnt 3 years ago).

Also a little amusement arcade for children and childrens activites. Fish and chip on site. Cafe too but we never went in there.

I knew it wouldn't be long before someone pointed out that a holiday at home is not a staycation😂

balalake · 28/05/2022 13:07

You'll save a lot of money if it is a weekend away outside school holidays. Look at north Wales.
