How is the £400 energy payment being paid

Apologies if i'm being daft here... I keep seeing that this £400 in October will be added "in to the account" of anyone who pays for energy by direct debit.

Does this read as it will be put in to bank accounts? or energy accounts?

and if it's energy accounts.... does that mean direct debits will be adjusted? or that we'll have to claim refunds as our energy accounts will be in credit?

So people in care homes won’t get it?

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 27/05/2022 18:07

Sorry to derail the thread, but for anyone who needs to apply for PIP after receiving DLA and is worried about completing the forms, contact your local CAB for assistance. I used to do this for clients when I volunteered for them and the advisers know how to describe and phrase things so the applications are likely to be more successful

unicornsarereal72 · 27/05/2022 18:47

@TwoBigNoisyBoys CAB is a good shout. I can do the forms. My concern is they will take dc at their word and not mine.

Tinkerbelleone from what I have read you will get £150 per claim, both me & ds are on PIP & will get £150 each.

danni0509 · 27/05/2022 19:06

@Tinkerbellone 6 million people are due the £150 disability payment, I am saddo and looked at the number of people claiming disability (DLA / PIP / AA) and worked out myself that it will include children on DLA or the numbers wouldn’t add up to the 6 mil if that makes sense.

Pics attached.

Yes I know I know I should work for the fbi

🤣🤣

It will be per child aswell. So if you have 2. You’ll receive £300.

That's good to know! That will be a real help with how many pairs of shoes we've been getting through with growing and toe walking through them

danni0509 · 27/05/2022 19:52

@EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall ds gets special orthotic boots with metal steel plates and he still toe walks in them, they cost the nhs £160 a pair and he can destroy them in a month. They go mad when I take them back with the sole missing! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have no idea what he does to them.

We are on Nike trainers at the minute, pair every 6 weeks, so I know what you mean!

How does it work if the household member who gets PIP isn’t the bill payer? The energy account is in my name, but dh is the one with a disability.

Tinkerbellone · 27/05/2022 20:13

@danni0509 thank you so much for replying and working that out xx Flowers

Bobbybobbins · 27/05/2022 20:19

@Dogsaresomucheasier

I think for PIP and DLA the additional payment is coming via the benefit payment in September eg if they normally get £500 a month they will get £650 for that month.

I was wondering this. Our 18 year old daughter gets UC and PIP but the bills are in my name. My husband and I aren't entitled to anything other than Carer's Allowance for me. Will my daughter be entitled to the £650/£150 payments as she contributes to the bills via her UC?

She will get the £650 because she has a Uc claim and £150 for being in receipt of PIP. You will get the £400 household payment credited to your electricity account.

My Father is in a care home ( late 80’s). Will care home residents get it as he doesn’t have a personal electricity account. He self funds and also gets attendance allowance.

If he self funds and gets AA then yes he should definitely get the £150. He won't get the £400 as he obviously isn't the bill payer. I guess the care home could chose to give him a small refund if they felt inclined, although it's not clear yet whether care homes would get the payment.

@godmum56, yes, you pay a set amount but it gets altered each year to reflect how much has actually been used. So if the block of apartments uses more then everybody ultimately pays for it as it is averaged out and paid by everybody. We've had notice that the energy part of the management fee will be going up drastically in July (as I expected), but was just wondering if anyone knew what would happen with this £400 payment. I suspect I won't see a penny of it.

I am guessing that the management company will get all the money and will apply it against the total bill for the block then....because folk who pay their own bills directly will only see it as a refund against their bill.

sorry I wasn;t clear....the management company won't get the money either..they will see it as a refund against the total bill....I hope you are all somehow identified as separate households though...otherwise the refund might only be a single 400 and not 400 per resident....I'd be maybe chasing the management company?
