Pokémon Party Ideas

My DS will be 9 in August and he wants a Pokémon party. Unfortunately I don't have any money to throw at this! I've seen Pokémon parties advertised for over £200 pounds! Any ideas of how to diy a theme party on a budget gratefully received. I don't mind dressing up or getting a family member to. I'd be interested in any success stories so I can copy ideas. Thanks in advance.

When my son wanted a Pokémon party, we hired a themed bouncy castle (not exactly cheap, but not ridiculously expensive). I bought a pack of about 30 rice paper Pokémon cupcake toppers off eBay for a couple of quid, and also bought some personalised stickers that said “thanks for coming to Jack’s party” with his favourite character on, which I stuck on homemade sweetie cones instead of party bags.
At work I printed off a big colour picture of Picachu which I laminated, then printed a separate tail, kids then played “pin the tail on picachu”. Hope some of this helps in some way, good luck!

Hide pictures of pokemon around the house and send them on a hunt with clues.

This is great. Thank you.

I'd do it as a pokeman trainer school with activities to win points to be the best trainer.

One challenge about ball throwing accuracy (maybe at pics of pokemon in the wild?).

A quiz to recognise the most pokemon from pictures.

Some sort of pokemon care session - might be able to borrow an easy science experiment like adding vinegar and bicarb to make frothy pokemon food.

Yy to a treasure hunt to find some pokemon cut outs.

Maybe finish with a duel competition - could the pokemon cut outs have traits written on to use to play top trumps?

I was about to suggest pin the tail on Pikachu cos I did that one year.
You could do the standard party games like pass the parcel - a Pokémon prize, Pokémon wrapping paper and in each layer is a Pokémon card.

I'm living these ideas. Thank you.

My DH bought an inflatable pikachu costume off Wish about 5 years ago (was about £15).
He got it for our son's 6th birthday... but he puts it on at every opportunity now! Last time was Easter this year 🤣.
Might be a bit late now though for your son's party.

You could buy pokemon trading cards in bundles off amazon quite cheaply, could be used as prizes/put in party bags x

Ha ha! My son would be Hmm at any of us wearing a costume but I would love it!
Am definitely going to bulk buy Pokémon cards and start compiling an activity list.
These ideas have been so good. Much appreciated

Following for ideas as I'm also trying to plan a Pokemon party for my 8 year old DS. I'm definitely going to give them each a pokedex to do a pokemon hunt around the house/garden. I like the idea above about ball throwing accuracy as well.

I might also do charades/pictionary/guess the Pokemon stuck to your forehead.

Also possibly a memory game where I bring out a tray with a bunch of Pokemon figures on it, then take them away and they have to try and remember as many as possible.
