Is there anything you have had to cut back on due to the high cost of living?

For me I was always a huge bookworm and used to buy books pretty much every week, now I go to the library instead. I have also cut back on hair appointments and try to extend them to every 3 months instead of every 6-8 weeks. Anything you have had to cut back on?

@Orangesandlemons77 thanks so much for the advice. I'll have a Google 😊

Try to persuade your dh not to cancel your health insurance

It's one thing I really wish I had and am going to look seriously at it once everything settles down.

A self employed friend of mine has just had to get a loan to fund private surgery as it's a two year wait minimum on the nhs and she can't actually work or move properly without the surgery.

She's on daily strong pain meds so has had no other option or she could lose her home and she has red young dc.

Oh my gosh, that’s awful! I hope she gets the surgery quickly and recovers well.

The while reason we got private insurance was because I needed surgery and like your friend, it was a 2 year wait. We got a loan out to do renovations on our house and had to put £5k aside for my surgery to get it within a month.

I explained to DH that as I’m a SAHM, if he were to get ill and couldn’t work for whatever reason, waiting on the NHS to fix him would cripple us whereas if we keep the insurance, he could be seen and treated within a matter of weeks and back to work.
He begrudgingly agreed and I’ve heard no more on the matter so I think he’s decided to keep it for now.
