I have searched on the web but no wiser. I'm a carer for my child and my youngest was just assessed by the children with disabilities team. The recommendations was that I was assessed. I think this is different from the carers assessment. Can anyone shed some light please?

The Care Act 2014 covers adult social care assessments. It will look at your needs and the support you require in your own right. Different to a carer’s assessment for a parent caring for a child under 18 which is covered by the CAFA 2014 (although carer’s assessments when you are caring for someone over 18 are covered by the Care Act 2014) which looks as your needs as a carer.

Is that unusual for a carer to get their own social care assessment? I cant think what benefit having my own socail carer would bring when my child has a disability SW and I'm not registered disabled.

Is there suspicions I cant cope? My childs SW hasnt been in my house more than once in 12 months. So no idea why that would be. SW would need to engage with me to know if I'm coping and I bearly interact with the cwd SW

If you have your own disability and care needs then no. It has nothing to do with safeguarding concerns or the disability children’s team, it is a social care assessment for your own needs.
