For 2 adults 1 child (6)? It's a bloody minefield!

We are looking to go 13th to 16th December so 3 nights with a budget of around 500..

There are thousands on booking.com but as it's a special trip I would prefer recommends if anyone can help?

abnb.me/azy68hRtkqb it's a bit more money, but I've stayed here and it's brilliant!!

You might need to up your budget but the Crowne Plaza at Albert Dock would work location-wise.

I'd stay close to the Excel if you can, much easier to get the DLR into London during tithe day for sight-seeing when you're all fresh than trying to get back into town at night after the show with a tired 6yr old.

Curve ball but there are plenty of places close to London with very quick commutes where accommodation will be significantly cheaper.

Hyde Park Hilton.

Great ambiance & location.

Was featured in Alfred Hitchcock's "Frenzy."

Premier inn holborn. Free breakfast for children. Near kings cross, covent garden and easy access to everywhere

ENoeuf · 26/05/2022 10:09

Have you considered a youth hostel? There’s loads in London - look at Hostelworld. Fun, my dd stayed in a few and you can have children.

DoYouZoo · 26/05/2022 10:10

Honestly, look at the Copthorne in Kensington - easy journey back and easy to reach other places by circle and district, within budget and although it's not the fanciest it's quiet and in a perfect location.

DoYouZoo · 26/05/2022 10:10

Sorry misread Excel - thought you meant the other exhibition place!

AnnaMagnani · 26/05/2022 10:19

For that budget Z hotels or a Premier Inn.

Tower suites by blue orchid. They are right at tower hill opposite the Tower of London. And all have sofa bed option, small kitchen area, and separate main bedroom ( you can opt for studios or 1 bedroom, and full separate living area).

we recently stayed a few nights with 2 year old and they were really convenient as a little more space and centrally located.

They also let us check out in the morning but leave luggage there all day afterwards for free.

NHow (stupid name) near Angel is quirky and fun. Child will love the giant crashing Big Ben rocket ship sculpture in reception.

10 mins walk to the station and all the restaurants on Upper St.

coconuthead · 26/05/2022 13:12

We always stay at the Fitzrovia Hotel, the rooms are absolutely lovely, spotless and the beds so comfortable. It might not be the right location for you though.

Doofas · 26/05/2022 15:11

We've stayed at the premier Inn near the London eye a couple of times, it's very nice, restaurant is good, usual premier Inn breakfast spread. But also not far from several little take aways that do breakfast if the in house one doesn't tickle your fancy. Weel located for getting places too.

Lunificent · 26/05/2022 15:17

Club Quarters on Lincoln’s Inn Square - beautiful, quiet yet central location. Clean, nice staff and not too expensive.
Premier Inn Hub at Goodge St is nice.
More expensive hotels I’ve liked are The Pullman at Euston - amazing breakfast and St Ermyn’s near Buckingham Palace.

uggmum · 26/05/2022 15:21

I would look at Secret Escapes. I've stayed at a few in London through them and not had any issues.

Failing that then a premier inn would probably be within budget

midsomermurderess · 26/05/2022 15:21

I’ve stayed in the Z hotel in Soho. I did like it, but my word, the room was tiny so I would wonder what even a family room in the one in Covent Garden would be like.

millymae · 26/05/2022 15:22

We have stayed at the Blakemore Hotel near Hyde Park several times and always found it very good 3 nights for the dates you’ve given is showing as £625 but that does include breakfast and free cancellation

motogirl · 26/05/2022 15:24

Premier inn or travel lodge are your best bet, the millennium at Gloucester Road is nice and I got it for within your budget last year but prices are now up.

Deathraystare · 27/05/2022 08:49

@clipclop5

I pass this practically daily!

They used to have a Blues night on in the basement, sadly no longer :(
Quite a nice cafe nearby, also a Spanish tapas place (never been in there) and of course not far from Westfield White City!
