How do I stop dwelling on things I can't control

We're going into our 7th month of trying to buy a new home and just been told it could take another 6 weeks and that's if no one decides to pull out. Also been trying for a baby for a year with no luck and both of these things are getting me so down but there's nothing I can do about either of them. Help me to be more positive please

It's difficult if you're a worrier by nature. Try to think about what life will be like in a year when hopefully things will look entirely different. For the moment all you can do is distract yourself with other everyday matters. These things can drag on and become an obsession if you're not careful. Best of luck.

CBT can be really beneficial with stuff like this

I have found journalling(I bought a bullet journal from WH Smiths) helpful for this. I write 3 gratitude a day (can be small ones , just even finding a good parking place !) And 3 worries, by the worries box, I have a solutions box. I write in there possible things I can do to fix the worry, sometimes I do have to write , "nothing I can do"
It may sound daft but that has kind of focused me on letting go of what I can't fix eg, my son has been happily renting a flat and living independently for 6 years , the landlord sold it and he had to leave and is now in supported living. Under my worries I have this as something that I worry about but nothing I can do. Under my gratitudes is that he has a roof over his head and a door to shut.
I do scroll Pinterest for positive quotes to write in there too which does change my mindset.
Also great for lists, I get satisfaction from being able to tick off something that has needed doing!

Yes, look up the worry tree. Stoic wisdom!

I know it’s not for everyone, but Sertraline did wonders for clearing out all the shit in my head. Magical stuff. My only regret is not trying it sooner.
