Is a Mini Countryman big enough for 2 parents and 2 tall teens?

Just that really.
I need a new (second-hand) car and I thought I'd like a Mini. I've had a massive Volvo XC90 but now that the days of school runs/pushchairs/picking up 35million kids from various activities are mostly behind me, I want something smaller.

We don't go out that much all together in the car but we do sometimes. DH is 6.0 and DS is 6.2 - we also have DDog.... Does anyone have a Mini Countryman (which is believe is the biggest mini) and a similar sized family?

Yep. There is loads of room at least for the people, I have no idea about the dog.

Probably big enough, but, in my experience, they are an uncomfortable ride. I don’t think any of the Minis are very comfortable though. Mine had runflats on, which I had to replace because the ride was so hard. Servicing costs are high too. I think you could do better and cheaper.

I've no idea about the Countryman specifically, but just want to point out that fitting tall teens and adults into cars depends a lot on their proportions. My sister and I are about 5'11 and sat in a lot of cars as teenagers when my mother wanted to find a second car that would work, because we are fairly long bodied and a lot of cars didn't have the headroom in the rear seats.

DH is maybe 6'3 or 4, but long legged. If we're trying out headroom in cars I'm the one who has to check! He's comfortable folding his legs up somewhat, but not everyone is. DS is about 6'0 too now so our 5'8 DD is the little one of the family. I'm horrified by the way car roofs are now raked even on hatchback styles - I don't think any of us can sit safely in rear seats in most of them nowadays.

I wouldn't choose a car without physically checking an example with the people who need to fit in it.

I had one years ago - 3 adults and a Labrador. The boot was too small for the dog and I didn’t always want him on the seat.
As pp mentioned, not a great drive, and I found I needed to change gear a lot . Handles nothing like a regular mini.
In short, I hated it.

Hmmmm ok.

The mini thing is a bit whimsical possibly. I probably need to look at other small SUV options... and @Pythonesque - you are completely right. DS has legs up to armpits so it's not just height to consider.

I'm glad I posted. I need to put a bit of effort into my research!

I absolutely love mine and find it so comfortable and great to drive. Everyone is different Smile

Me too ! I love it , have an automatic and it’s really zippy ! I get a wheelchair in the boot so I’m sure a dog would fit . Although I’m only 5’ 2” so can’t vouch for the height. Try it !

I've had Mini Ones and at a push for short distances I can get my DS and 2 mates in. If my bf is in only my DS and 1 mate. They are all really big though.

I'm only small so I love it! Consequently any long drives are not in my car.
