Help!! birthday

My sons birthday is tomorrow. And I don’t think we’ve ever had a birthday that wasn’t either a weekend/Covid/younger than school age.

We live quite a busy life especially on Tuesdays and relying on public transport.

tomorrow he will have in totally around 3 hours at different occasions during the day to open presents/have cake/play with new things and I’m feeling soooo guilty for it.

what do you do on the school day birthdays?
Do you open presents before or after school?
Do you drop all extra activities to give them more time?
give them time off school (not an option for me tomorrow but might give him a wee cheeky half day on a not so busy day)?

run me through your busy day birthday routine

Oh and I have a daughter (summer holiday birthday) you would give your birthday child a day off/half day would you also siblings a day off too

we open half present in the morning then half after school.
I usually do a special breakfast and something silly like putting lots of balloons in their bedroom overnight.

I let my child decide if they want to continue he to do usual after school activities or skip them.

I personally wouldn’t skip the day off school, but I would maybe take them somewhere fun for dinner or allow then to have a friend over. Then do something more substantial at the weekend.

We usually get up early, open presents and have a more elaborate breakfast than usual.
School as normal.
We skip after school activities unless the birthday child doesn't want to, sometimes they invite a couple of friends and have a birthday tea of their choosing. We usually have a steam of family 'popping' in too.
