Ideas for short holiday by myself

I am a busy working mum and the last few years have been really hard, with covid, work stress, cancer treatment, other medical issues, disabled child, various issues with elderly parents, severe anxiety etc.

DH has suggested I have a little holiday by myself as I have an extra week owing to me and he will look after the DC etc. I was thinking of going somewhere for maybe 3 or 4 days by myself but have no idea what to do.

I would like to do something structured so that being on my own isnt an issue and most of all relaxing. Based in the UK. I like walking, horse riding, yoga, spa treatments.

Just wondered if anyone has any ideas? I'm not sure where to start.

How far do you want to travel ?
What part of the country are you in, then we can recommend some ?
Do you drive ?

Holiday cottage with a hot tub, then you can all go ?

I want to go by myself and not have to care for the rest of the family!

I'm in the south east but happy to drive up to about 2 hours.

I would travel further for the right place.

I went solo camping recently, didn't do much, even had a nap in the day!
I have a smallish tent, big enough to stand up in but easy enough to put up alone
Depends if you have some or all of the equipment ready.
If not then a nice hotel, even premier inn if nearby attractions/walks you'd like to visit?

HF holidays do good walking trips around the uk including Cornwall

There are a lot of yoga/wellness retreats around which may be your cup of tea. I've been to www.tiltonhouse.co.uk/ which is down in the south downs, so great walking as well.

Hi OP,
it sounds like a lovely well-deserved break. If it were me I would have zero interest in camping or self catering as I would want it to be a total break from all things domestic.

I would choose a city I either love or always wanted to visit and I'd book a hotel in the most central location I could find.

I would then research things I'd like to see / do in that city - galleries / museums / concerts / theatre etc

I'd bring / buy a couple of books and I would relish every second of having the luxury of my own room / bathroom and space whilst having everything on my doorstep. I'd have breakfast in bed at least once.

I'd want a hotel with a bar so I could enjoy a nice glass of wine or G&T whenever I felt like it.

I would sleep and rest and then wander about seeing the things i wanted to see having to answer only to my own schedule.

I'd have coffee and cake in the nicest cafe I could find, a drink in the nicest / oldest etc bar, dinner out one night, maybe an early bird followed by seeing something in the theatre. Room service dinner another night.

Sounds bliss.....!!
