Am I weird - Sleeping position

StupidUsernameUnavailable · 21/05/2022 21:57

Please help me and DH settle a disagreement!

He has just (lightheartedly) had a go at me for my sleeping position. Saying that it's completely weird and is thinking about getting a 2nd duvet for the bed because of it.

I'm now in bed and after getting comfy and into my (don't even think about it) position I think he may be right.

I really snuggle down on the pillow so head is practically pushing the pillow up so it's almost like I'm wearing it like a crown. I am on my side but tilted over so I'm kind of on the front of my hip/tummy. One leg completely straight and my other knee pulled almost up to my chest. The big problem for DH is that I then pull the duvet up so that the whole back and top of my head is covered but my face is still visible. This causes an issue for him as when I pull the duvet up at the corner it pulls it off his feet and legs and it pisses him off!

Apparently I do this even when it's really hot, although all my body is out of the duvet but I still wrap the duvet around my head....

Is DH right in saying I'm weird or is this sleeping position more common than he thinks?!

I sleep the same way OP, I have to have the duvet tucked under my chin, holding it tucked in a fist.

Cherrysoup · 21/05/2022 23:05

A or F, duvet absolutely must NOT cover the ears, must be tucked under the ear. I think 2 duvets are the way forward, OP.

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 21/05/2022 23:09

Always use a duvet a size larger than your mattress (I’m in a king size bed so have a huge long & wide super king duvet).

Very useful, especially when giant husband pins the duvet to his sides like a tin soldier, and I look like Spider-Man climbing the Washington Monument.

SunflowerSmith · 21/05/2022 23:26

We've got a superking bed and two single duvets, I got sick of dh letting cold air in when he rolled over.

gamerchick · 21/05/2022 23:31

It doesn't matter. Get a second quilt. It's a none issue at all.

PickAChew · 21/05/2022 23:31

Not odd but 8 can understand him wanting separate duvets. DH has massive shoulders and it doesn't work for us both if he sleeps in his side.

yesthatisdrizzle · 21/05/2022 23:35

I'm an F too, although I was a C when I was single. Much more diagonal though, so my legs would take up an entire double bed. Had to adapt to sharing. Took a while, but DH's toenails are like iron, and I got fed up of them stabbing me.

Shoemadlady · 21/05/2022 23:36

I sleep like that!!!!

trainnane · 21/05/2022 23:38

I'm F

Lochjeda · 21/05/2022 23:40

I sleep the exact same, position and with the pillow. The covers aren't an issue but my dh does say he's almost at the edge cause my knees bent up across the bed, but he keeps me awake snoring so fair is fair.

DanceDanceDance80 · 21/05/2022 23:41

Omg! That position is soooo comfy to sleep in. It's h
My favourite too but I don't cover myself completely with the duvet though. 👍👍🙂

myuterusistryingtokillme · 21/05/2022 23:41

I sleep in the re over position, but quite low down the bed (so the foot on my straight leg can dangle off the end). I HAVE to have a corner of the duvet to hold

Shodan · 21/05/2022 23:48

I'm an H, but with the knee drawn up nearly to my chest. I also have two thin duvets, one atop the other. Then I can have Very Warm all over or Half Warm for my head or nose (nose gets weirdly cold sometimes).

But I travel all over the bed at night anyway. Probably just as well I don't have to share it very often...

Laurajane1987 · 22/05/2022 00:09

I sleep almost exactly like this, I solved my problem by breaking up with him 😂 but generally speaking just get the extra duvet it will solve the problem and you both get a good sleep

NannyGythaOgg · 22/05/2022 00:10

Whatever your sleep (and, or duvet wearing) position. 2 quilts is a very positive game changer.

Different temps, sleep positions, movement - all much less of an issue with separate quilts

StupidUsernameUnavailable · 22/05/2022 07:29

Morning all! Hope you all slept well 🤣

I only was only woken up twice last night by stroppy leg kicking, but a further 3 from DH doing his vest fog horn impression (even with ear plugs 🙄).

Will look into either two duvets or a super king.

Thanks for all you replies and for making me feel a bit more normal!

I sleep in the same position and tend to pull the duvet up although not to your extreme.

Buy a bigger duvet

And tell dh that when he gets help for his snoring you will consider amending your sleep position

StupidUsernameUnavailable · 22/05/2022 07:34

@Bikeybikeface

Once it's wrapped round my head I often make fists and keep it tucked under chin. When asleep I often wake in the same position I feel asleep in. I can't tell you the amount of times I've woken up and I look like a velociraptor where my hands/wrists have fallen asleep! 🤣

I sleep like that!!

BendingSpoons · 22/05/2022 07:40

Honestly 2 duvets is life changing. I don't usually put it over my head unless I'm blocking out light, but I do like it firmly over my shoulders. DH prefers it much lower. No more waking in the night because the duvet has slipped over me. Plus we have different togs. I like a thinner one so I can make a cocoon even when it's warm.

BeggarsMeddle · 23/05/2022 07:44

I'm a variant of F - have to have my arms straight up like Superman. Luckily I'm very short so my feet only just hang over the end of the bed (which suits me as I have sensory issues and my feet have to be 'just so' for me to sleep).

We also have super king duvet on king size bed.
