Just as thread title really, I'm looking for parking options for a short trip to London and I was hoping for recommendations.

I’m from the north east, we park at Luton parkway and get the train into London from there. Train is a max of 45minutes.

Get the train

Get the train

Depends where you are coming from as some of the trains are ridiculously expensive, where we live in the Midlands about 100 miles from London it’s generally over £100 a person by train from local station so just not feasible.

Loopytiles · 21/05/2022 07:41

Train or furthest out tube. As PPs say, look at the costs for parking and tickets.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 21/05/2022 07:41

Where in London do you want to be? There are places (suburbs mainly) where you can park for free and get the tube in.

BuanoKubiamVej · 21/05/2022 07:45

Depends where in London and where you want to cast the balance between sitting in traffic to get more central/reduce time on public transport/not spend too much on the last leg. One option would be to park at a mainline train station not too many stops north from the nearest big terminus station to your destination.

Gosh, why didn't I think of that? 🙄

I'm thinking north London, and train/tubing it in.
Wherever is feasible that the parking charges aren't too high / train journey too long. 45mins out max?
I know central London quite well and am just weighing up the options. It's £100-£200 to get the train from where I live and I'm happy to drive.

Are you staying overnight in london? For the M1 the Northern line has a few commuter carparks not sure how they work overnight tho.

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 21/05/2022 08:38

You can park at a northern line station near the M1, for example Woodside Park, for £6 a day. Car parks are never full any more

Titsywoo · 21/05/2022 08:40

I did this recently and parked at Hillingdon. It took 40 mins to get to Kings Cross.

StageRage · 21/05/2022 08:40

Parking at Brent Cross shopping centre is free, if the opening hours suit, and 20 mins on the tube to the WE.

Titsywoo · 21/05/2022 08:40

Oh and parking was very cheap - large carpark with plenty on spaces

Kerky · 21/05/2022 08:42

Thank you, I will Google the ones named to see if I can find prices and availability.
