I'm trying to loose weight, and whilst I know an occasional treat is fine, I had some Easter egg yesterday and now I want some more 🙃 arghhhhj

Well it's the weather in part, had a day out planned which has rained off and didn't do my usual walk as had toddler DD and she isn't keen on rainy walks as won't walk in it and hates the rain cover as can't see out.

Having a cup of tea but meh, it's not the same. Salad for lunch and honestly its not the same as chocolate.

I have an after eight for 35 cals 😁

gwenneh · 20/05/2022 17:59

Chocolate biscuits, well, one just leads to half a dozen.

Why, though? As far as I know they don't leap from the packet yelling "pick me!" so they actually don't have to lead to a miniature binge.

Geranium1984 · 20/05/2022 18:01

Eat one!!

DockOTheBay · 20/05/2022 18:01

I have funsize chocolate so I can eat a pack and then not feel the need to "finish off" the rest. I would find it hard to eat a bit of easter egg and leave the rest.

Mushroo · 20/05/2022 12:09

I just have some. But say, 1 square of dairy milk and that’s it.

Or snack wise I’m a big fan of the lighter babybels.

You do not understand 😂😂😂😂

Never having the things in the house helps. I have coeliac. I never buy gluten free treats or bread and everything I bake has gluten in it, so I can't even taste it! If I really fancied a biscuit or cake I would have to go to a shop and purchase them. The effort involved would put me off, but if I wanted it that badly, I would definitely eat it.

kateandme · 20/05/2022 18:44

Restricting leads to binging.fact.
allowing.unreservbly leads your body to trusting it's always available, therefore you stop craving it like a school child.and your body learns to trust you and not react in that scarcity dieting mindset.
It becomes less special when it's had and allowed.you make better choices.
Eat.repeat.lwtbyour mind and body no it's ok and you will stop craving it.
95% diets fail.we are led to believe in shame, lack of willpower.but healthy can be all foods.and shame leads to unhealthy food mindset and decisions.
Did someone mention brushing teeth.distraction against eating! My god is this an eating disorder tips page.and no?would this be acceptable tips if we new the person had an ed and was starving.
We are giving people tips to stay away from food.this is not health.

I have a cup of Yorkshire tea with a sweetener in. It tastes like malted milk.

Don;t have cake. The calories in even a small slice of cake are insane. But a biscuit is way more manageable. Those packs of mini jaffa cakes are around 100-125 calories iirc.

The 10 calorie jellies are good too, if you want dessert.

In summer have a fruit lolly or mini milk which are about 30-50 calories.

boudicca79 · 20/05/2022 18:58

Those 100 calorie bars
You get from b and m. I can't think what they are called? Skinny whips? Is that right? The mint ones are lovely.

I've ate four in one go though Blush

mowglika · 20/05/2022 19:01

I eat it! But I won’t usually have a massive slice or more than 1 or 2 biscuits, or a couple of squares of chocolate.

Dillydollydingdong · 20/05/2022 19:01

M&S cherry cake or Victoria sponge. One slice is enough to satisfy any cravings. If you believe that you'll believe anything!

anewername · 20/05/2022 13:37

Yeah I'm all or nothing. One biscuit? Pah I eat the packet. But I can do none weirdly. Why is that? It's just hard as once you do give in it certainly opens the floodgates to all the cravings.

I serve myself the serving size that is acceptable, on a cute little plate, I make myself a cup of tea or sparkling water, put the chocolate away in a tin at the very back of the cupboard, then bring my tea and chocolate upstairs.

I have the chocolate first, then the tea. I enjoy it. I usually don’t crave any more. If I do, I debate whether it’s worth the effort of going back downstairs and taking everything out of the cupboard again. If it is, then fine, but usually I find it isn’t!

VintageGibbon · 20/05/2022 19:15

Another thing I do is have a low cal raspberry yoghurt but stir lots of frozen raspberries into it. It becomes lovely and chewy and bulks out the yoghurt. Takes time to eat.

Sometimes, though, I think you need to eat what you are actually craving otherwise you can eat a banana, a bunch of grapes, a handful of cheerios etc and still want what you want. Keep some calorie controlled sweet stuff for those moments. Fibre One brownies are good. Mini jaffa cakes are good. That sort of thing.

Yes. Well, if you don't understand, then I'm happy for you. I can't afford the amount of mental energy it takes to have just one chocolate biscuit. I've spent literally years beating myself up about, alternately resisting the pull or saying sod it. It's exhausting and ultimately unhelpful.

I'm more or less happy with my current way of eating, having lost 77lbs.
It didn't involve simply deciding to have 'just the one' chocolate biscuit.

How have you lost the weight? Well done!

Smartiepants79 · 20/05/2022 20:19

I eat it 😳! No will power. Luckily have a decent metabolism and a reasonably good with portion size and balance in my diet.

Badger1970 · 20/05/2022 20:21

Sugar free polos.

Or cleaning teeth.

User7493268965 · 20/05/2022 20:21

Have a small bit, the thing is I end up having several small bits which end up being a big bit

I used to do this. It takes a lot of effort to stop, but once you figure out why one small bit isn't satisfying, or what you can pair a small bit with to make it feel satisfying, then it's easier to stop.

And if nothing can make a small bit actually satisfying, then it's not really worth eating!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 20/05/2022 20:26

I have the biscuit, cake or chocolate. In moderation and without guilt. I then adjust my calories fo the rest of the day to account for it.

picklemewalnuts · 20/05/2022 20:41

@Namechangefornow Slimming World. It's not a perfect system, but it's not satanic either, despite what you read on here sometimes! Took a year, and have maintained for 7 months now, including Christmas and Easter. In an ideal world I'd lose another 28lb, but don't want to over reach! Better to consolidate my wins than try for perfection and fail 🤣
