Is there anything that will encourage pigeons to fuck off?

I'm sick to death of being woken at dawn by the noisy bastards flapping and scrapping on my fence and roof! I ended up hanging out of my bedroom window like a mad woman waving my arms and hissing at them in a rage this morning.

Is there anything that will scare them away?!

One of those flappy plastic birds of prey on a long sturdy wire attached to a gutter or roof edge will do the trick. Or go for the real thing and pay a man with a hawk to come round and scare the shit out of them!

An air rifle. Be careful though - my friend lives in a country where they are a normal thing. Always missed - deliberately.

Until the day he didn't miss and the dead pigeon tumbled off the roofline and thunk, into his MIL's morning coffee.

He's divorced now.

The pigeons soon piss off when my cat goes into the garden,so you need a cat!

We have some anti bird spikes. Just on the kids swing, we aren't completely horrible.

It’s a real bugger that we have to share the planet with other species isn’t it? What with being mildly inconvenienced by pigeons and bees, the sooner humans get this mass extinction out of the way, the better!

My thoughts exactly!

eww nature

Get some anti-bird spikes on the fence.
The roof is a different matter !

allinadaystwerk · 20/05/2022 07:30

I dont know but telling them don't seem to be working, I keep trying though.

Noisyprat · 20/05/2022 07:37

It's all very well saying 'it's nature' but imo pigeons are out of control. This year I have noticed a mark increase with loads of pigpen shit everywhere.

We have used a catapult however I am considering getting an air rifle. We don't have a cat but local cats don't seem to have any impact. They are not called 'rats of the sky' for nothing.

HappyAsASandboy · 20/05/2022 07:46

A model bird of prey. Either a flappy one on a wire or just a plastic model one that you put on a fence/post/table/hanging basket bracket .... the pigeons won't come near a hawk!

Alovelydayatlast · 20/05/2022 07:48

I played eagle noises(YouTube) via a Bluetooth speaker!! They now live on ndn's roof instead!!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 20/05/2022 11:03

We had to get spikes on one of our windowsills as the buggers had taken up residence and were creating a guano island beneath. The spikes look a bit grim but they're at the back of the house at least. Our two cats were neither use nor ornament here!

in my opinion, humans are out of control.

We have problems with them too but also have a neighbour that feeds them, she seems to think they belong to her. It’s rotten cleaning up all the mess in the driveway and on the car. We’ve also a neighbour over the road who has started to feed seagulls.

I’m trying to avoid falling out with her but I have looked at getting spikes. I’ve no issue with bird feeders for common garden birds, I love seeing them in the garden but the bigger ones don’t need encouraging.
