Is £950 a reasonable amount for this school trip?

7 night ski trip to the Pyrenees next Easter. Includes 5 x 5 hour ski lessons, ski passes to whole resort, return coach transport, full board accommodation, hire of all ski equipment, evening entertainment which could include swimming, sledging, pizza evening and disco, personalised ski hoodie, ski video & photo & insurance

I mean to me it sounds like a bargain for what it is, though it is a lot of money.

ComDummings · 19/05/2022 11:53

Sounds cheap for what’s included

Theforest · 19/05/2022 11:53

Very good yes

It's a lot of money but when you consider what is included it sounds fair.

womaninatightspot · 19/05/2022 11:54

It sounds reasonable for what's on offer but still alot of money to pay for a school trip. For me it would depend on whether my child could or wanted to learn to ski. Then can I save up the money in time. It's reasonable to say no if you can't afford it or dc isn't fussed.

Mumski45 · 19/05/2022 11:54

A lot less than I'm paying for DS2 for a week skiing with school in Feb half term next year.

blibblibs · 19/05/2022 11:55

Same school trip is £1250 here so I'd say not too bad.

CombatBarbie · 19/05/2022 11:57

3yrs ago we paid £800 for DD to attend a very similar trip so with rising costs etc I'd still say it was value for money.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 19/05/2022 11:57

Skiing isn't cheap.

Roastonsun8 · 19/05/2022 11:57

Have no idea. You could price up a similar trip and see what total you get or plan your own family trip?

ScarlettDarling · 19/05/2022 11:59

That’s about the same as I paid for my son todo a similar trip four years ago so I think it’s ok. It’s certainly a lot of money but skiing trips are notoriously expensive.

worriedatthistime · 19/05/2022 12:02

yes was over £1000 for my son about 7/8 years ago
Skiing is expensive

Funkyslippers · 19/05/2022 12:02

Thanks everyone! I was thinking it sounded reasonable. It all depends on whether she actually wants to learn to ski and whether her bestie is going lol

Tbh, it sounds great.

nearlyspringyay · 19/05/2022 12:04

Really reasonable

GiltEdges · 19/05/2022 12:05

There was a similar ski trip but to California when I was in high school around 18 years ago that was around £1000, so to me it sounds like a bargain.

easyday · 19/05/2022 12:09

Yes. I paid £750 about four years ago and no hoodie or video or anything extra like that. Food was vile at the hotel our kids were going in to town to supplement which required some £.

Bunce1 · 19/05/2022 12:10

It’s cheap for the type of trip that it is. But it is also a lot of money.

It is excellent value I would say.

INeedNewShoes · 19/05/2022 12:11

It's a hell of a lot of money but considering everything it includes, the cost is absolutely justified.

It hurts though, if you're not a skier and you are the kind of person who could cover a week's nice holiday for your family of four for £950.

I went skiing once and it just wasn't for me, which was a massive relief as no way could I afford a skiing holiday even once every five years unless it was the only holiday I had.

Minniem2020 · 19/05/2022 12:28

Very reasonable for what's included. I work in travel and used to often shock people with the price of ski holidays when they came in to enquire.

TenoringBehind · 19/05/2022 13:05

That’s very reasonable for a school skiing trip. Skiing isn’t a cheap activity. Much, much higher than that at our school.
