Some lovely ideas here thank you

Not sure why all the miseries don't just scroll past Confused

We're having a get together in one of the neighbours' gardens.
No plan to 'do' much, just all invited, bring a chair, bring your own drink, bring something for the table. Sit and chat. Sounds perfect.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 18/05/2022 23:06

@Kite22 I know right?

Yours sounds perfect

Just pulling up a deck chair as I'm planning one and a bit short on ideas! Lunch, kids games and a royal themed quiz so far. Keeping everything crossed for good weather.

Absolutely not. The jubilee is in extremely poor taste and absolutely tone deaf.

Why would anyone celebrate Elizabeth Windsor's 70 years of parasitic privilege while children go hunger?

Extremely worrying behaviour

Agree 100%

Where I live you won't see any bunting until you reach the Border , Eng/Sco border .😁

If you want your very own little pretty, agreeable jubilee party thread, op, where everyone lives in cloud cuckoo land, post in the RF topic where you can slather over them all you like.

Zippidy123 · 19/05/2022 06:28

We're planning on a way to avoid ours. Had a falling out with the Queen bee of the street last year, I'm tea total and the last one turned into a monumental piss up so we'll be out somewhere for the day.

grapewines · 19/05/2022 06:34

Imagine posting a thread on a public forum and then being surprised not everyone agrees with you.

PP is right. Maybe you should have posted in the RF topic for more agreeable responses.

Bretonbear · 19/05/2022 06:38

Nope. Can't really get excited about anything to do with the Royal Family and all the more so since the Prince Andrew pay off. It stinks.

MintyMoocow · 19/05/2022 06:40

Abso blooming lutely!
Cul-de-sac here. We have had a Michelin starred chef volunteer to run the BBQ and an army general doing the loyal toast. I have a cardboard cut out of the queen and loads of bunting.
Now watching the BBC every day to see what the weather is like as the day approaches.

WaterBottle123 · 19/05/2022 08:23

@Snoopsnoggysnog

No, you 'bugger off' with your strange worship of a family that recently bailed a child abuser out. That's 12 million of OUR money.

Mindymomo · 19/05/2022 08:33

We have a village party on the green arranged, but people have to take their own table and chairs. We will probably wonder down for a drink or 2. My adult son hates everything about the royalty, so he can dog sit whilst we go out and enjoy ourselves (but he’s happy to have the days off work).

Snoopsnoggysnog · 19/05/2022 08:38

I’ve been on MN for 10 years and literally have never received such shitty responses to a thread. I asked for ideas for a street party, not a debate on the value of the RF.

Actually I couldn’t give a damn about the RF. it’s an extra BH (yes I get there are many people working) and many of my neighbours are elderly and didn’t leave the house during Covid. This is a way of getting people together and having a little fun and I won’t apologise for that.

If people on here “can’t imagine anything worse” or are doing their best to avoid any kind of celebration, good luck to you.

Ignore them, OP.
Bet they'll still take the bank holidays off though won't they?!!!
Bloody miseries.

You probably need to realise that the RF/Jubilee is an emotive subject, especially now. stop taking it so personally.

standoctor · 19/05/2022 08:44

"Bloody hope no one is where I live. Just because every bugger else gets 2 extra days off work because of the jubilee. Those of us who work in Heath care dont and I aren't pissing about finding alternative routes to calls because they've closed the roads just so everyone else can have a street party!"

Diddums

AnneElliott · 19/05/2022 08:46

Yes we're doing one and have got our road closure sorted. We're doing music from all the decades and games for the children and a charity raffle for the Ukraine relief fund.

Most people are making cakes to share. I'm really looking forward to it.

We are having one and I will love it.
As for starving kids - I and my partner would live to have had a load of kids.
We understand that they cost money so we had 2.
If we could not afford to feed a kid we would have had none.
It is parents responsibility to feed their own kids.
Not anyone else's.

Equally if you want to love in cloud cuckoo land where everyone agrees with yiou post elsewhere or shut the f up and do not read a thread you know you do not agree with.
I think you need a bit of anger management counselling :)

AuntieMarys · 19/05/2022 08:49

Avoiding it completely.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 19/05/2022 08:50

That sounds lovely @AnneElliott (love your user name) - a charity raffle is a great idea.

not taking anything personally. Just didn’t realise people would be so shitty about an extra bank holiday, FFS.
