What will you be doing over the jubilee bank holiday?

I'm a bit of a royalist, Dp is not. Doesn't get the hype. Didn't even know what the jubilee meant 🤦‍♀️

anyway, each to their own. If you are into it what are you gonna do to celebrate?

there's lots of things going on locally to me, fun days, bbqs, bars etc etc but DS is autistic so we probably won't get involved as he gets overwhelmed in busy places (so do I to be honest). Sadly there is nothing on in my tiny little village.

what do you plan to do? We don't have a huge amount of friends or family around either to ask around.

it's literally just us - me, Dp and dc.

at the minute I'm thinking bbq and if the weathers nice maybe get the pool up.

Dp doesn't usually automatically get bank holidays off but he's actually off for the whole 4 days from where his shift has landed!

I'm doing a little buffet (for 3 people) Ds who is 8 wanted to celebrate, and it's any excuse for a buffet with him! Also, he is going to write a letter to the queen! Smile

We're moving that week so mainly unpacking but our local village hall has a fun day so we'll probably attend that

7Worfs · 18/05/2022 09:21

A neighbour is organising a street BBQ on the Thursday, and on the Sunday we’ll have a picnic at the near National Trust manor, they’ll have some stuff for children.

WhatIsThisPlease · 18/05/2022 09:33

Sulking.

I work Monday to Wednesday so I've lost a bank holiday while everyone else has gained one.

I do love the Queen though, so I probably won't hold it against her.

Favouritefruits · 18/05/2022 09:49

I get back from holiday the day before so won’t be able to plan much, think I’m going to do an afternoon tea/ early evening meal buffet.

Libertaire · 18/05/2022 09:56

Working, fortunately. If I wasn’t, I would be leaving the country to get away from all the royal bullshit.

roarfeckingroarr · 18/05/2022 09:59

Our part of London is having a street party on the Sunday Grin and hopefully other family things, picnics etc on the other days

LindaEllen · 18/05/2022 10:02

I'm in a brass band and we have two concerts over the weekend, and I'm also fitting in a night away at a friend's caravan, plus a family BBQ. I will be knackered, but it will be such a good weekend :).

jamoncrumpets · 18/05/2022 10:12

We are going on holiday to a caravan park on the south coast. We won't be marking it in any way. I'm not interested in the royal family at all. Would happily bin them all off.

whiteonesugar · 18/05/2022 10:15

We will be away Friday - Sunday for a wedding which is in a city 5 hours drive away...so Friday driving, saturday Wedding, Sunday driving. Children will be at PILs. CANNOT WAIT!

Frostytiger87 · 25/05/2022 20:00

I’d love to do something , does anyone know if there are any family events happening in London ?

SpringRainbow · 25/05/2022 20:03

Ugh avoiding our street party, we were going to go away but our plans have been cancelled as the logistics just won’t work out.

We’ll probably just go out somewhere, maybe a picnic somewhere. I haven’t made up my mind.

Isseywith3witchycats · 25/05/2022 20:04

Going to a motorbike rally weekend from thursday till sunday

hopeishere · 25/05/2022 20:11

Day trip on the Friday. Also want to have a meal out over the weekend and take DS clothes shopping.

Probably another day trip on the Sunday.

Bairnsmum05 · 25/05/2022 20:11

Absolutely treating it the same as any other weekend. In my part of Scotland I'm not aware of any of my friends, family or colleagues celebrating this.

SomethigWentBang · 25/05/2022 20:25

I’ll probably spend moments of it pondering why any sane member of the populous would celebrate the reign of an unelected parasite whose power, privilege and wealth is derived from centuries of land grab and plundering. Especially at a time when half the country can’t afford energy or food.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 25/05/2022 20:29

Camping

DinosaursEatMan · 25/05/2022 20:32

I wasn’t going to do anything, but apparently I’m being dragged to the local party, thankfully it will have a bar, and one of the dc wants to do Jubilee baking, whatever that might involve.

easyday · 25/05/2022 20:42

I was going to visit my son but he's just found out he's working the Friday and Saturday. So I'll stay home and not do anything really. We have been invited to my in laws for tea but I had declined - might see if me and my daughter can still go now (mil is mid 90s and not always up for visits). My daughter has A level mocks starting on the Monday following so will be revising several hours a day.
My mother stood in the street to wave at the Queen during her coronation 70 years ago.
