Replacing crowns/veneers

I need to get my front teeth top row crowns / veneers redone as they are starting to chip/deteriorate as they were done 30 years ago. Dentist has told me as you age your natural teeth darken. I'm in my late 50s and have noticed my canines are dark. They’ve suggested lightening the rest of my natural teeth first and then colour matching for the new crowns/veneers. Has anyone had this done, how did it go?

No, but I want to do this when my crowns need replacing.

I've got the top 4 front teeth as crowns which were done 20 years ago on the NHS. I don't think they will replace them if they're not broke, so I could do with looking into going private when I get some money 🙄

So, following with interest....

Yes I've had it done on the front 4, you do need to keep up regular whitening of your own teeth after it's done , around every 6-12 months dependant on how quickly yours fade.

I've been rethinking this. I'm just going to get my crowns replaced the same colour as they are. I can then at a later date try whitening the natural teeth slightly. If I go for whiter replacement crowns then I will be stuck in a circle of having to repeatedly whiten the natural teeth to match my new "whiter" crowns. That's sounds like too much of an ongoing expense to me.
