Anyone know if they change speed limits on fixed cameras for roadworks?

Car in front of me got flashed by a speed cam yesterday. I was doing 70 they were going faster as pulling away from me.

I thought we had come out of temporary road works which were a 50, but I clearly wasn't paying enough attention because the 50 actually continued past this speed cam for a little while longer.

Have got a nervous two weeks ahead in case it got me tooSad DH pointed out that because it was a fixed camera, would the point at which it triggers be reduced for a temporary speed limit, or is that unlikely?

Been driving 12 years and managed to never screw up like this before. So annoyed with myself!

Yes they can do. Try not to worry though. You may be able to avoid points with a speed awareness course. It's also a one off.

We have a new camera on my regular work route and I worried myself sick that I'd lost my license in the space of 2 days simply by being on auto pilot. 4 weeks on and nothing yet.

You won't do it again. I'm now hyper aware of speed limits!

What is going on with the bloody paragraphs on here? 😩

Thanks @whirlygaily I've got myself worried because doing 70 in a 50 seems to be a category B so a fine of a weeks pages, 4-6 points and a potential ban of 7-28 days..!

I had driven 3 hours to get to a memorial service, spent a few hours there and was on the way home. Definitely wasn't as aware of my surroundings as I should have been, the whole day was quite overwhelming. DH was meant to have come with and split the driving but DD was poorly so I had to go solo in the end. Just cross with myself.

Is there a set time period you should hear within? I had it in my head it was two weeks but theoretically can they send you a letter several weeks after and still enforce penalties etc?

It's pretty clear online that you should have it within 14 days. Mine included Easter bank holidays though so I gave myself an extra 2 days of fretting.

I honestly think that if you got a ban for this as a first offence it would be very heavy handed. Also, didn't you see the flash for the car in front? Presumably you'd have noticed if you had also been flashed.

Try not to worry. You can't change it now. Fingers crossed.
