Extra-wide trainers?

OK this is a long shot... looking for the widest possible trainers to replace my Skechers EEE tone-ups from 2012 Shock

I know they are not trendy and people seem to have a love-hate relationship with them but they worked for me. However they no longer come in EEE so I'm looking for alternatives, while wondering if a wide fit in a size up might also work. Considering Brooks, New Balance, Nike... but not convinced any of them are properly wide.

I'm actually nearer an H width so when I say wide, I mean really wide, and I need to fit an ankle brace in sometimes as well. Shops near me rarely have wide-fit models in stock so I need to buy online. I need a slight 'heel', not completely flat, I want them to be flexible rather than rigid and ideally have plenty of padding around the heel/opening - my poor feet have been through enough without being ripped to shreds!

Am I asking for the moon on a stick? Any recommendations from fellow wide-footed MNers? Price and colour pretty much no object... comfort is everything!

I've recently bought these rocket dogs from Amazon. They're similar in style to Converse but much wider and have the squishiest most comfortable padding inside. Only £17!

Thanks Nat 6999 and guessmyusername for the extra info. Am definitely going to order Sketchers to try too since they've been good for me in the past!

The rocket dogs are great looking but too flat for me, sadly.

Happy to have found this thread. I'm looking for comfortable trainers for my hideous hobbit-like feet! Absolutely hate buying shoes, as I can never find anything to fit. I have very wide feet with my toes virtually straight across and a very high instep. The podiatrist says my feet are so wide as I have some hypermobility and years of my feet rolling with every step has increased the width. I live in Crocs and Birkies. Hotter shoes are not wide enough for me, I have bought ankle boots from www.widerfitshoes.co.uk/ where the 4E are not quite wide enough across the toes, so I've had to go up to 6E which really limits the styles. According to the measuring guide on Wide Fit Shoes, 4E should fit, so I think it's my toes.

Are mens trainers wider even if they are the same size? I'd love to have some white trainers that don't look like old granny bunion shoes😂

Hi @JulesJules, sorry you share my frustration! I noticed how much the choice narrowed down at 6E. I think my toes may be making things difficult too. I can't wear flip flops at all because the toe post is always in the wrong place - I think I may have extra short toes!

I actually wrote to Skechers via the website to see if they can recommend their widest styles, and to ask whether a men's style might be better. Waiting for a reply, will let you know. I get the impression men's shoes are a bit wider all round.

I ordered the two men's Nike models recommended by @GanderingGoose to try. The Revolution 6s were great in every way except across the toes! The shoes seem to narrow down really flat at the front. I think it's the Nike style. I loved how easy the Flyease were to get on, and there was a bit more room in the toes. A size up might have been perfect - except around the ankle, where they are really tight due to the elastic 'laces', even with the Velcro left loose. I do have some swelling there due to the arthritis so they would probably be fine for normal ankles! I was considering whether I could take the elastic out and replace with regular laces to make more room - but as I'd have to cut them out it would be expensive if it didn't work! There is also no chance I'd fit my brace in, but I might not need it - the heels are a great height and because the heel area has a wide base they feel really stable.

Haven't decided what to try next. My Hotter boots (Whisper and Daydream II styles) are OK but the trainers look narrower around the toes... so maybe the adidas that were recommended or Skechers if they get back to me.

I have extra wide size 10 (mens) feet. I live and die mizuo wave runners. They're fairly expensive but last so, so well.

From experience....look for something with a "mesh" foot. No bands or decoration on the side. Also, measure your feet. As in, draw around on a piece of paper and measure then look for the size guides.

New balance 1080 running trainers come in wide and extra wide. The toe box is wide / squarer than asics nike and Adidas. Asics seem to be straighter shaped than nike and Adidas. Most shoes want to cut off my 2 smallest toes! So I think New Balance wide or extra wide might work for you as they have for me.

Look for a specialist running store near you, they might have wide running shoes to try on.
