DC jumped off the sofa

…and inevitably hurt herself, cut her bottom lip. She’s absolutely fine and now in better spirits than she was an hour ago.

But just noticed a bit of blood behind one of her front teeth. It’s not wobbling, chipped or anything like that but she says it hurts a bit. She’s the dramatic type so could be exaggerating, not quite sure.

Anyone think this may require an emergency trip to the dentist or am I overreacting? DC is 3.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

I'm usually a "suck it and see" kind of mum but I'd say that she'll probably be fine. I'd just feed her soft foods for a day or two just in case she has loosened it and so as not to exacerbate any pain. Obviously check it again later just in case too.

It doesn’t feel loose right now, it was just the sight of blood around the tooth that initially alarmed me. She keeps touching it as well which I’m assuming is not helping. Will of course keep an eye on it for the rest of the day. Thank you for your reply

DS1 fell off a high stool in IKEA a few years ago when he was 4 and cut his lip quite badly. He also complained of a sore tooth. Over a few days the tooth went grey. I phoned the dentist for a bit of advice and she said there wasn't much she could do and that, unless it was wobbly (it wasn't), just to leave it. The grey gradually faded over a couple of months. At DS's next check up, I remarked on the fact that his tooth appeared to have gone back to a normal colour, but she could see with her little mirror that it was still grey at the back. Not that it mattered! His adult teeth grew in beautifully with no issues.

Meant to say, hope your DD is ok!

DS2 was a climber when he was small, but weirdly has never hurt himself. My heart was always in my mouth. DS1 is so cautious and yet is always hurting himself. He is currently in a walking boot after going over on his ankle while ... WALKING🙄

Oh I’m sorry to hear this, poor baby. Glad his tooth was okay in the end and grew back with no issues. I think this is my concern, that she’s damaged the tooth or gum and it’s not visible. I should mention that she chipped the same tooth in the bathtub about a year ago but no issues following that incident. So I’ve got everything crossed that she’s managed to get lucky again this time. Either way, I think I will still book her in for a consultation in the next week or so, just to be safe.

This made me chuckle. DD walks like she’s drunk most of the time 😄

No I wouldn’t do anything. It’s a baby tooth, it’s going to fall out anyway in the future. If it was an adult tooth then maybe.

Well let's hope they learned thir lesson!

My 'little' brother has a scar on his lip from TWICE jumping off the windowsill, missing the sofa and falling heavily on the coffee table and splitting his lip open. Luckily this was in the lax 70's so the social services did not get involved! Whenever it got quiet, mum would ask me to check up on him. He was either wandering around with his lip heavily bleeding or trying to set fire to the house.....

He has now grown up, is a responsible father to two grown up girls and a couple of boys with latest wife. He was a little horror though with no fear. He 'broke out' of his pushchair at the health centre and was running down the Rochester Road (mega f'in motor way!) when a guy up a ladder spotted him!

@ChiefWiggumsBoy exactly what my mum said. Thank you!
