There are so many threads on here criticising dog owners and parents of very young children that I thought I’d try and restore the balance a bit.

First dog owners. In a cafe recently and a big Labrador came in, saw DH and I and rushed over, tail wagging and put his paws on my knee. Owner was mortified and it took some time for me to point out that a) we’d encouraged him by saying hello and didn’t mind a bit and b) it was an officially dog-friendly cafe so we knew what to expect. (Our only way of meeting dogs as we have cats who wouldn’t welcome one.)

Young mothers. In a cafe the other day (I really dont spend all my life in cafes!) where the tables were spread along a long wall. DH and I were sitting side by side facing into the cafe with our backs to the wall. Two young Mums with babies in pushchairs came to the next table and one put the pushchair in the aisle between our table as so I couldn’t get out that way. She apologised profusely and said shed move it when I needed to go but I told her I was quite happy to get out the other side of my table.

We have a Husky, very impressed that so many dc ask if they can stroke her.... She is in her glory being the centre of attention... Had me wondering if our local schools had mentioned how to approach ddogs. There are so many here in our seaside place it's hard to avoid them . Helping dc become confident around them is vital imo.
Pic for cute factor..

Our dog is sadly no longer with us but I too was impressed by how many children would ask before petting him. The dear little chap never had a moment's aggression in all his life and loved attention from children as we don't have any so they were novel for him.
