Things to do and see in and around Piccadilly Circus?

So I've done something impulsive and quite frankly nerve racking and booked myself a solo trip to London to go see a show.

I'm going to have the daytime free to do whatever so I thought it ask you guys for ideas of things to see and do in and around piccadilly circus?

Considering I've spent 400 quid so far (bye bye summer holiday lol) ideally things that won't break the bank. Any nice places to eat? Ect...

Also...I have to get from gatwik Airport to piccadilly circus. Assuming its just a case of a train and then a subway? Anything I need to be aware of happening atm?

Cheers.
Ps: absolutely bricking it.

You will be fine
Which show?
Don't limit yourself to Piccadilly Circus
The royal academy is on Piccadilly if you like a gallery
You need to get the overland train to Victoria from Gatwick and then you can get the tube from there to whatever theatre it is.

If you have all day don't just stick in one area. The tube is so easy to use and you can walk a good distance in a day. What sort of things do you like to do? You are in walking distance of Covent Garden, St James Park etc. So much good food in London it is hard to narrow down! If you want to eat just before theatre you have Chinatown, Brasserie Zedel is great, I like Kingly Court just off Carnaby St for choice of good food (Shoryu ramen is lush!)

Oh and don't be scared! London is so easy to navigate. I go up quite a lot alone to see various galleries, have dinner etc. The ramen place I mentioned above is great if you are alone and nervous as they sit you at the bar. The Wolseley on Piccadilly is also good if you are alone - great breakfast if you are there early. Eating on your own in London is no big deal though. I sat at a table in the middle of a packed restaurant once and noone looked twice at me enjoying my steak alone! Speaking of steak, Flat Iron has a few branches and is cheap but delicious.

Going to see 222aghoststory. With Tom felton who I absolutely adore so I thought, sod it, when else will I get the chance to see him!? So, putting on my gryffindor pants and just going for it.

Ooh a gallery sounds like a good shout! And you can't go wrong with ramen :)

Going mid week but do you think I need need be booking tables ect in places? I mean I'm not gonna book places now but if maybe I walk past them in the AM and think dinner there would be good...?

What are the bets I end up just surviving on Greggs and meal deals? xD

you can also get the train to St Pancras and then the Piccadilly Line tube to Piccadilly Circus. I’d probably do that, but I hate Victoria station!

You should have lunch or dinner at Zedel. No need to book if you are eating early or late.

Royal Academy is a good call. Pop into Fortnums (you could have afternoon tea there, but would need to book). Also the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square.

Googling about (inbetween screaming like a 14 year old girl who just had her crush slide into her dms) and it says the subway stop is called 'green park' am I right with that?

I'm usually OK with winging it so I'm sure I'll be fine haha...haha...ha....

But yeah an art gallery sounds good. I suppose if its a nice day then the gardens would be a good shout too.

You’re also pretty near the National Gallery and Trafalgar Square - I always like getting a sandwich and eating it in Trafalgar Square but watch out for the pigeons!

If you do the Royal Academy you could do a mini detour and window shop in Burlington Arcade.

For the theatre? You’d need Piccadilly Circus for that if it’s the Criterion. (Also, FYI, it’s the Tube or the London Underground in London, not the subway - just in case you’re asking for directions when you’re in London)

Pinkbonbon · 12/05/2022 13:38

Thaks firey! That could have been awkward...bunch of strangers trying to give me directions to the nearest sandwich shop lol.
