Experiences of ELCS vs EMCS

I had an EMCS for my first delivery which was actually fine, except it was a bit of a blur because I’d had a long labour preceding that and can’t really recall things like the spinal. But I’m due to give birth next month (ELCS) and just wondering how they differ.

If you have had an ELCS would you mind saying how it went, in terms of timings, procedure, was it the calm situation that i’m imagining? What time did you go in and what time was the baby born etc?

TIA

I had to walk into theatre which I found very weird. We were first in at 8.30 iirc and dd was born before 9am. Everyone was laughing and chatting, no serious faces like the emcs. Spinal seemed to take longer, I guess if there is no need to rush they may as well take their time and make sure it is right! Stitching up much quicker. Would recommend to anyone 😅

This is exactly the kind of thing I’m hoping for!

I had two planned caesareans. Both very calm and straightforward, and dare I say it, enjoyable.

I've had a cat 3 emergency section and a cat 1 emergency section. The cat 3 was almost an elective but not quite. I was told I needed a c-section 2 days before it happened and I was in hospital (on the antenatal ward) for the 2 days beforehand. I was told in the morning ward round that my c-section was scheduled for 1pm. I was given a gown. 1pm came and went. Every hour or so I got an update saying it would be soon. DH was told not to leave, even quickly to get some lunch or he would miss it. Finally at 11pm I was told operation had been postponed until the next day. I got to eat for an hour. Midwife felt sorry for me and brought me 2 puddings! Thankfully the next day everything went smoothly. I walked into theatre at 9am and baby born at 9:47.
