How do I get my GCSE certificates from a million years ago?

So despite being very middle aged I find myself having to prove I got GCSE maths and English donkeys years ago. I have a print out thing from the exam board with my results on but I apparently need the actual certificates (I'm not sure if I ever actually had them!) So is there any way to get them now?

Contact the exam board, it’ll cost you though

Just google the awarding bodies, it should be on the print out slip you have and replacement certificate. They can reprint them for you.

You will have to pay, but it may also be more complicated depending on which exam board it was. Some of the boards I did exams with don’t exist anymore!

What if the awarding bodies don't exist anymore? Several of the exam boards I sat exams with in the 90s are no more.

Just looked it up - this may help:

If the board doesn’t exist you can get still get them. I had to get some o level certificates last year. Googled the board I took and then got them via Pearson who seemed to have them for lots of boards.

Have a look on gov.uk for the exam boards. Mine were not listed, or I couldn’t remember them or something, and in that case they recommend you get in touch with your school, which I did, and they were able to tell me the exam boards!

I've just had to pay £50 to get a replacement certificate. It was from OCR. I had the results slip, which was very helpful as it contained all the information that I needed for the online form. It arrived promptly, was looked at for 3 seconds and will now be unlikely to ever see the light of day again.

It doesn't cost. Put in a subject access request to the exam board asking for all information attached to your name. They have to respond within 28 days. I know this works because I did it with AQA last year and the email from them was accepted for my Masters
