New Job / Old Job

I put in a leave form this morning. Due to the way leave is administered, I had to tell them it was for an interview (wouldn't have got leave otherwise).

I've just been offered a 20% payrise.
Whilst money was one of the reasons for applying for a new job, and the 2 are now financially equal if I was to be offered the one tomorrow, it doesn't change the shitty boss, or the 35 min commute (reduced to 10 for potential job).
I need to go for the new one if I don't get any warning signs at interview, and get offered it, don't i? Do I tell potential job what current one have done? Not what I was expecting today!

I would 100% still go for the interview! Nothing to lose, it's good experience, shows your company that youre are desirable elsewhere and the new company may even offer you more if you tell them that your existing company has offered a pay rise since the interview date came through.

Go for it!

I always think by the time you've gotten to the point in your mind where you've applied for other jobs and got to interview stage you must be mentally checked out. I don't know anyone who has ever stayed with their current company after they were offered more money/better flexibility/etc once they said they were leaving who has then lasted longer than another year before continuing their job hunt and leaving anyway. There must be reasons as you've listed despite the pay that are making you want to leave, go with your gut and if the interview goes well then go for it! You could even use this pay increase as leverage to get an even better salary in the new job! Good luck

Definitely go for the interview it can't hurt to see if they make an offer.

@AverageJoan I'm changing jobs & if my current employer would let me work from home 2/3 days a week I'd stay (they've already said they'll match the money). The only reason I'm leaving is I don't want to spend 8-9 hours a week in the car & spend £250-300 a month on fuel.

I love my job, my team & the company but the offer of a job in my industry & salary bracket 5mins from my front door is too rare to turn down.

Well, it wasn't to be.
They were great on the day of interview, but the way they rejected me backs up the concern of someone who knew them well, and was probably their true colours.
Still, got a lovely pay rise out of it.
Thank you for the comments.
