Do You Have Any Sayings/Phrases That You Don’t Really Hear Anyone Else Saying?

Phew long title 🤣 If someone drops something in the distance, I always say “ Sack the juggler”. I wouldn’t say that if someone dropped something in my sight as they may have a problem. Never heard anyone else say that except DH. DF used to curse by saying “ Hells Teeth” or “ Blood & Sand”. I found myself saying “ Hells Teeth” this morning, trying to lift my heavy shopping.DH has an odd saying “ You lie like a hairy egg”! Definitely haven’t had that anywhere else!

My Dad used to say 'blood and sand' I had no idea what that was about. Other than not wanting to curse/swear presumably.

I came across the expression 'crickets' meaning what I would call 'tumbleweed' this week-I didn't realise that was an expression.

Not sayings as such, but when watching various Danish series I have found myself saying ‘’helvete’ and ‘fanden ’ (sp), hell and fuck, I believe. Obviously, other people do say these.

I was born and grew up in Bristol/Somerset but moved away in my early teens.
There are lots of regional slang words/phrases I use that growing up, I thought were not regional but countrywide. I was baffled when people would have no idea what I was talking about when I said things like;
Coupie - crouch down
Smooth - as in “smooth the dog” rather than “stroke”
Thic - the, this, that, them e.g. “pass thic remote”, “get up thic stairs!”
Ark at ee - listen to you/listen to them/look at them etc

”Blood and sand” reminds me of my very Bristolian nan who would say it as “bloody sand” 😂

@SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows

“You lie like a hairy egg” - please tell your DH that I am stealing this! Grin

My OH and I like to repurpose the expletives from Anchorman ('By Odin's Beard!' and so on).

If something we're doing or watching looks like it's increasingly turning to shit, we are fond of 'Milk was a bad choice.'

This is funny to us, but probably sounds utterly nonsensical to anybody else.

I think blood and sand is from the war as in "bloody sands and beaches"
My Nan used to say it instead of swearing
