Hey all, Just looking for some friendly advice in regards to a change of career.
I am currently working in Recruitment and HR in the public sector, I have worked hard, my career has flourished and I am now working within a managerial level.
Having worked in the public sector for such a long time I have worked closely with social services, childrens services and all aspects of social housing. My biggest regret in life was not studying towards being a social worker or working within child protection for the police, it has always been something I wish I had done and now I am really regretting it.
The last year I have spent lots of time looking/applying for roles or looking at ways to get into this line of work without a qualification but can study on the job. If I go and study full time that means I have no time to work, and with a child and a mortgage I need the stability and to keep a roof over our heads.
My question is, has anyone had a career change and gone into a front line role working with social services/child protection? I am finding it hard to be 'taken serious' as I dont have any 'hands on experience'.
Any advice would be fab, thank you x
