Has anyone moved out of London to get more for their money property wise? If so where did you go and do you regret it?

Surely it depends on where you moved to and what your commute is like?

we moved to a commuter town in the Home Counties. I work locally, DH is 1hr door to door and gets a seat on the train into The City. Lots of amenities in the town for DC.

Price wise, we got similar square footage but a larger garden and good school catchment to our z2 flat.

Currently doing it. Moving to Ramsgate. Only have adult kids but my friend moved there last year with her 11yr old son and he loved it. They are very happy.
We are selling two flats and buying a 4 bed house and one bed flat and a two bed flat. We love it there.
Broadstairs is lovely too but there wasn't anything we could buy

I wouldn't necessarily have to work-depends on house price and I have a 17yr old DS doing A levels at the moment so I'm not sure I'd want to move until next year but im looking at my options

Forgot to say we are in our 50s and have adult children, none living with us

There is a Facebook group called "LIfe after London" that could help you a lot. I haven't decided where to move yet but I like to read about others' journeys to get ideas. Good luck

Yes I moved to the middle of the country in 2008. I was selling at the height of the recession back then so I did not have much equity hence a modest 2 bed semi. I do not regret it no but life is very different and it does take a while to adapt in all sorts of ways.

Mortgage free is great though. I grew up in a town so that helped me appreciate a more restful backdrop slowly.

I have way more time for hobbies and r n r and I know it is much better for my mental and physical health.

We moved out of central London to the Home Counties just before kids. It's 30 mins to Marylebone and Baker Street.

It's been great having a big garden (though property prices are high in my local area) but we're looking to move back into central London now my kids are late teenagers.

I should add that the traffic and endless development has changed it from when we first moved out. It's busy and stressful trying to get places by car.
