Hi. Just need advice. When I gave birth I suffer ed a tear which means I know have limited control on wee. I have tried pevic exercises but I don't understand what I need to do. I tried the incontinence nurse at my local area and got told I need to see the GP....the GP told me it's not something they deal with. As is now 5 and had this 5 years ok 2 years through lockdown. It recently got worse. Where on earth do I go ..I can't have another 40 plus years like this. I'm lucky that DH is fine about it...he was there whilst I bleed everywhere. I had the easiest pregnancy and birth was great but quick and I had an inexperienced midwife who panicked.

tearing isn’t down to your midwife, it happens

Your GP shpuld refer you to gunaecology or a Womans Health Physio i think?

It's not ok and I'm sorry they just left you to fend for yourself!

My GP referred me to a women's health physio. I would go back to your GP and request a referral, they can show you how to do the exercises properly. It can take months and months to see the physio though, it was in my area so in the meantime I'd Google how to do Kegel exercises properly and download the Squeezy app to remind you and coach you through doing the exercises.

The best advice I was given by my midwife when I puzzled on how to do pelvic floor exercises….

Imagine that you are sitting in a bath full of snakes…. And you don’t want any of them to get in….

Buy a Perifit

I ha a tear and infection after DC1. I was referred to the bladder and bowel service at the local hospital. I had a surgical repair also a few months later under Gynae at the hospital. I hope you get some support soon.

You need a referral to gynaecology and to a women's health physio. Pelvic floor issues are really common and a lot can be done to improve them. Good luck

Thank you, think need to return to gp or would you go straight to hospital

How would you just go straight to hospital? You mean a&e?

I had an episiotomy and third degree tear, was an absolute mess for months thinking I’d never heal properly. I would genuinely sit for hours everyday doing my pelvic floor exercises. It took almost 6 months to be referred to the woman’s health physio and by then I was completely back to normal so didn’t need a follow up. You need to go back to the GP and ask for a referral. They will be able to help with your pelvic floor exercises and anything else that needs to be done to help. Wish you all the luck, it’s not something I would want to experience again!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 09/05/2022 21:27

You need to push for a referral to gynaecology from gp and a womens health physio

I had a third degree tear with my boy two years ago and when I could finally access physio (cheers covid!) It helped so much.

I struggle with pelvic floors as I can't feel the contraction with nerve damage and the physio really helped me work on that abs it had made a big difference

I’m on a similar position as you OP. I hope someone can give some good ideas about what to do
