If so, how did you oay for stuff? It's been so long since we last went abroad, that I don't know what's best - get a credit card, travel credit card, cash, do they still do travellers cheques?

Is chip and pin widely accepted? Has covid pushed them cash free like most places in the UK appear to be doing?

Help!

I've always got cash from a hole in the wall, or used my transaction fee free debit card, the one that I use in the UK too. I don't think I've used traveller's cheques anywhere since 1982...

Went to Croatia last year and we are going back again to a different part, we use Revolut, you can lock in good exchange rates in advance and it is free currently exchange Mon-Fri via the app.

We paid mostly via card, but took 150 euros for the bits we couldn't/ tips. Markets were generally cash only but for everything else card was fine.

There was one Croatian bank (green coloured?) That allowed fee free withdrawals but can't remember now....

I'm pretty sure my bank (Natwest) charges for debit card withdrawals abroad. I must find out.

We were there last year, paid for the majority of stuff on chip and pin cards. Check on your accommodation though- I’ve stayed in a few places that wanted cash on arrival. Even fairly small towns have cash machines and bureaux de change, but the rates can sting a bit so better to take some with you. Definitely not travellers cheques though.

Does the Revolut have chip and pin?

Yeah I'll check with the apartment owner how they want the balance paid.

CKB Banka?

I was there fairly recently. Card is normally fine. Take some euros for market stalls perhaps.

I think it is OTP Banka in Croatia, actually. It CKB in Montenegro.

I used Monzo. Most places are contact less. It's all Kuna though, no euros.
